Waxing next time around question

Hi
I'm an avid reader of posts in this section. Thanks for all the really helpful advice. I've been buying products and trying things out. Every time I open the garage door a huge waft of smells greet me, from a place that just used to be dank and dusty.

My car is currently lovely and beady and shiny and just needs a quick wash at the moment, but it has led me to wonder what and when it would next need a full make over - how do I know when the wax will need replacing and when I do, do I have to remove what remains of the old wax or do I just rewax over the top of the previous layer? Is it different if I change wax? Basically how far back through the preparation process of layering should I go each time?

The whole process seems to be spread stuff on, buff it off and repeat. At times I did wonder if I was just taking the whole product off again each time and it was just a big con, to make you buy polish, sealer, prep, wax etc - four products when I just used to use one, but I still loved doing it!

I'm using mainly Auto finesse products and the wax on the car is Essence.

Thanks
Viv

I do a full detox every 3 months, i then polish using the DA and then reapply the wax. Give it a wash using Fairy Liquid as it removes any wax as it has de greasing agents in. You can just take the wax off then polish by hand then reapply the wax. But i would say every 3 months

Recommended is every 6 months depending on mileage I used to do that but now only once a year as I don't do the mileage I used to and the paint still feels very slick after 6 months.

I wash, clay, polish, seal and wax then top up the wax every 2 months and when I wash the car each time I finish with a QD to keep that just waxed look I also clean the engine bay every time I wash and the interior is kept very clean that way it takes a lot less effort each time.
