hi, I have a black z4 2008. I need some advice to remove the swirl marks. I bought some autoglym super resin polish, and im looking to buy poorboy black hole.
i use srp followed by a Autoglym glaze (cant remember what its called) then Meguirs soft wax. its about £15.00 i get great results. However, my car is silver so easier to polish. My Mother has a Black SL that I used a proper swirl remover polish on. Worked well. Prepare for loads of replies to this question..... Polishing is a very personal thing IMHO
To completely remove swirls you will have to machine polish have tried a few hand polishes but no joy BMW paint is very hard.
AG SRP will fill some swirls then top of with AG EGP and to top that off use Victoria Concours Wax its supposed to be great on dark colours and gives my Silver Z a nice glossy wet look. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/victoria-wax/victoria-wax-3oz-concours-wax/prod_312.html
Rember if you want a good finish its all in the prep so you should clay first a very easy process and well worth while
Results i get http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15951
Collonite waxes are very durable and have had good results with 476s but my favorite is 845 so quick and easy to use but beware with the Collonite waxes do not apply in hot sunlight they go off quickly and can dust like SRP.
I have been very impressed with the HD Wax from Autoglym
Have used it on hard BMW paint (silver) but also on my soft red painted Ducatis and Medium paint Kawasaki
Gives a really deep shine, beads very well and smells lovely!
Have used SRP then EGP x 2 on top then HD wax x 2 on top of that
Clay, SRP then HD wax does give a very wet look shine to my Imola red. it will be getting it's 6 monthly full application in a couple of weeks. Would work well on black I should think.
I know that you said you were after a cheap wax, but I would still recommend AG HD Wax. It's a bit more expensive than what you were looking for, but it gives a very durable finish and the pot will last for ages. Here are some pics of my car after 2 coats of SRP and one of HD Wax.
I hadn't really appreciated how big the e89's bonnet is until I was applying all the polish / wax by hand!
just wait till halfords does 3 for 2 on ag stuff, i bought a big bottle of srp and the hd wax and wheel cleaner, the srp and wax still have just under half left after a year!
