Wax strip

Just thinking in advance for next spring when I'll be giving the coupe a full detail.

Can anyone name a good product for stripping off the old waxes etc before applying new? I've always kept on top of my detailing (a light detail weekly) but I've always missed out this step when coming to machine polishing, bad I know!

Thanks in advance!

A mild TFR wash would do the trick or a much cheaper option would be washing up liquid.

Prep the paint with a decent paint cleanser (AF Rejuvenate or DJ Lime Prime or similar) and then apply your wax LSP.

If you use a clay bar it will take off wax, depending on what paint sealant is used, depends what takes it off. Some paint sealants only come off with abrasion.

I use isopropyl alcohol, then give it a good clay, the rinse paintwork with water and dry prior to applying polish and wax, simple

Interesting, I've always used clay. I'll continue using it! Thanks guys

Clay is the way will strip everything off then start again its what I do every spring

clay, ipa, tfr etc won't always strip everything, some sealants particularly need compounding to remove!

On my personal car and cars that I maintain I use Angelwax Stripped Ease which removes waxes and sealants. The cars I work on are wax'd regularly so this works extremely well. Far quicker and less harmful then claying as this can often marr the paintwork which would then require polishing.

£9 it also won't break the bank

:) Am I the only person on this forum who thought that the title of the thread meant something else?
