Hi I am new to this forum but a regular on DW, I have ODK Glamour and Obsession phantom both of which i think are very good, I am north of Derby near junction 28 of the M1 so if you fancy a ride out when the weather improves I would be happy for you to have a go with both if you like......

I do like ODK products - they really do add gloss to the paint;
but never found anything with great durability in their range.

I don't want it to last more than a couple of weeks because I enjoy applying it lol but I understand where you're coming from

Haha you got it, i apply the same principal as when i tried golf and that was to hit the ball as many times as i could because i'd paid to do it lol, so why pay £70 for a wax to use it twice a year...........We know we are stupid but we don't care

Totally agree mate - i apply regularly when the weather allows;
but want something long lasting at this time of year.... that can be trusted! :wink:

Svissvax Shield. Supposed to contain Teflon or some such non stick potion. After experimenting with a lot of waxes this lasts the longest by far.

As stated previously, preparation is all and I find the best approach to be:

Wash
Clay
Wash
Dry
Svissvax cleaner (until squeaky clean)
Polish with Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Two coats of Svissvax Shield wax with another two coats on the forward facing panels (front bumper, front of bonnet, front of A pillars and backs of door mirrors).

The result is not as deep a shine as other waxes but it lasts a long time - up to a year or longer. Record for still beading water is three years on my brother's car. Summer kamakazi insects are also easily cleaned off.

I did try the Autoglym HD wax once - that struggled to last 4 months and was completely 'gone' after 6 months.

I must admit i'm a new convert to Swissvax. I was given Onyx last year as a gift and liked it a lot!

So now using Shield as my winter wax. Great results and superb beading. :thumbsup:
