Waving to fellow Zeds in the wild

Yeah I do think it's a rarity thing, I've only seen one M in the flesh and he undertook me at ~130 on the motorway, flahed him as a greeting but he probably thought I was pissed of
Yeah if I saw anothe M on the road I'd expect they'd be more likely to flash back.

stupot will probably be able to confirm, but there are loads of Z4s in the MK area. Must be 100+. Can't make a journey without seeing at least one. But hardly any on the forum, which is bizarre. I'm keeping an eye out for the two on the forum that I know of, Woots and stupot67. I've experienced some rudeness and it's unlikely I'll acknowledge any non forum cars.

It's always good to see another Zed on the road - don't see that many to be honest. :o :D

When we do we wave and/or flash and we have had responses back - not from all of course. :o

We also get waves from other roof down motorists when out on a run - that's always nice. I think it depends on the type of road you're on. Out in the countryside heading out on a favoured motoring route we find we are more likely to get waves. 8)

We'll continue - we have appropriate names for those that don't wave back! :P

If someone waves to me whilst I'm driving my Z4 I ignore them. Just not my kind of thing I'm afraid, but then I don't really like people anyway.

Its one of those cars (like the Mini Cooper S i had before) where there are enthusiasts as well as muggles who just happen to drive them.

I found that you need to identify an enthusiast by "lowered stance", "coloured wheels", "mods", "roof down when its cold", "excessively shiny paintwork" etc and then you can risk a wave.

In nearly 2 years I've had one wave from a Ninja Z4 driver on M6 who I missed because he had stealthily snuck up on me and one from Z4M Coupe who I waved to first as he was Shiny and I've seen about in Tamworth a few times.

Totally agree about how to spot an enthusiast

I'm sorry but even if you're not inclined to flash/wave to fellow enthusiasts I'd feel very uncomfortable ignoring someone who did. Find it very ignorant!

Interesting reading this thread. It got me thinking about none Zed activities, like the Sunday stroll along the local footpath. Twenty years ago, pretty much every one you past would acknowledge your presence with a pleasantry or two. These days I look who’s coming the other way. If it a little old couple ,then rest assured be ready for a brief exchange of good morning and howdy do's. If it's a young lady walking her dog, forget it, the dog's too often there to keep you away, not to start a conversation. :(

Bit of a shame realy. So remember to wave or nod next Zed you see and help bring the world a little closer together, next sunny drive out.

Flashed a shiny Z4 between Lichfield and Tamworth last night as it ticked the "shiny" box. Got nothing, but it was a bit short notice.

to be fair, if I'm "flashed" by some other car my first instinct is to think that there's something wrong with my car / driving.

Wouldn't call it ignorance, not to flash back.

That's fair enough tbh, but purposefully ignoring is very arsy imo.
Although if another zed flashed you as it passed would you think there was something wrong? Other cars maybe.

I try to always give a short wave, especially if both of our tops are down. Driving mine always puts me in a good mood. I really don't care if someone waves back. My top is down almost any chance I get. I don't understand why others keep theirs up on some of these truly beautiful days.

Arsehole

I'm just telling the truth. No need for abuse is there?

I suppose what you have to consider is the ratio of forum users to non-forum users with Zeds. Also how many Zeds in total are there in this country. They seem to be quite a ubiquitous car. So chances of seeing another forum user is........?

Comment was made light heartedly!
It's not abuse anyway it's my opinion :p
tbf a lot of people will call me an arsehole on the road, albeit a courteous arsehole

I would love to be able to wave to other Z4 owners, but here it seems everyone who drives a Z4 is either women (who don't seem to pay attention to anything, so they don't see) or are stuck up pricks (who would be just as likely to give me the finger as wave back). :headbang:

I have in the past approached people in parking lots to talk about their Z4 but they almost always don't know anything about their car (certainly don't mod) and usually don't have any interest in chatting cars. It's a sad world we live in. :(

That's the one thing about having a muscle car. Back when I had my Z28, I could wave at other Camaro owners and get a positive response.

It's the same here, most buy it because it looks pretty!

Writing about all the Zs in MK, there was yet another in my car park today! Only saw it side on briefly, would be cool if there's another Z4 forum driver in my building.
