I know, I know.. Drill or pry open jack pads. What I want to know is has anyone over the last 15 years figured out how the water is getting in there. A fix rather than a bandaid.

I have just written a post on this and have asked exactly the same question. I did however do my own little test yesterday pouring water down the front drains at the bottom corners under the windscreen. I checked that the front scuttles under the bonnet were draining ok, which they seemed to be, but also poured water down the gap to the sides of the front drain.. (sorry I havent taken a photo maybe I will post one tomorrow..) when I did I noticed that water came out of my freshly drilled holes in the jacking points. My guess is when it rains heavily not all the water can flow down the designated drain holes, they get overwhelmed by the quantity of water, instead passes to the gap in the side and down into the subframe itself.. Not sure how to fix this problem though...

Right in the centre, there is a hole in the centre of the jack point mount in the chassis ...

Blue arrow shows where there is access to the chassis if water is poored down... Red arrow shows where I believe water overflows, blue and red areas are linked , ie both have access to the chasis and the sill area...
