Water leaking in.......

For the past two days I have been hearing water "swooshing" around when I drive i.e accelerate, brake etc Firstly, I have not been pissed, secondly, I don't have any bottles of water in the car (which is what it sounds like) and third, its not the petrol tank as I have never heard it before. :D

I did some searching on the forum here and saw a few similar posts....

As a result I tried pushing/pulling the rubber jack points on the underneath/side of the car (both front and rear) on the driver's side and water came gushing out (must be litres worth). It's only on the driver's side, when I push the same rubber jack points on passenger side nothing comes out.

So my question is, has anyone experienced the same and can you elaborate on where this water is coming in etc?

It's a Roadster. Yes I did see that post, that's where I got the original idea from, however I was trying to pinpoint exactly where/how the water may be getting in if someone else had experienced the same issue....
 
Hi Marco,

Sounds just like my problem. I took it to my indy (after hours of searching myself), they took 2 of the plugs that hold the skirt to the sill and like you, water flooded out.

The smoke tested it and found smoke leaking through the roof drain pipes and out of the lower chassis arm. Haven't had it fixed yet but hoping to in the coming weeks when i have it serviced. They think its most likely the o/s drain hole that's got a hole in the pipe and when the pipe was blocked the water drained down the hole and into the sill. To fix its a roof off job.

Hope this helps and I'll let you know the result once i eventually have mine fixed. But for now its a clip out of the skirt and clear roof drains. No problems for a month or two now.

did you find there was much movement in the jacking blocks?, mine seem very solid and move maybe 1mm at most, no water seeps out though.

Not I, but from other posts, the windscreen cowl can apparently be a method of ingress.
