Water ingress

Hey guys,

1st post so hi everyone. Nice day here in Irvine so a bit of spring cleaning threw up the sight of water lying in the battery compartment. About 5mm deep so it's lying and not draining. Just wondered what might be the source and a solution. Hopefully one of you guys have experienced and sorted. Its an 04 3.0SE. On an aside it's getting really dodgy in the wet. Tyres loads of tread, back not bouncy, think springs are ok but just seems a bit unsafe. In fact at times a bit scary. maybe a trip to the dealer cos I'm sure there's no indy local to me. Anyway cheers in advance guys,

beararse

Sorry can't help with the water - as for the handling ...what tyres are you running, pressures?

Hi Alan, Falkens all round. I'll admit to not having checked the pressures as i'm not sure what they should be, but it's not handling as it should that's for sure. It seems that the rear slides at the least opportunity when cornering to the point of feeling unsafe. Any thoughts?

It could be that your rear trailing arm bushes are shot, sounds very like that from your description.

Hi DGM,

I see you're in glasgow. I'm irvine. Do you use an indy? if so which one. There aren't any local to me (that I know of)

I've been using BMW dealers for the past few years due to my cars being under warranty so I haven't got any personal recommendations. There are plenty of BMW indies about though, BM Motors in Law is one I see getting recommended all the time, RW Weaver in Cathcart, Glasgow is another. I don't rate your local BMW dealership though and would look for an alternative if possible.

Paddy,

I've noticed fragments of rubber seal coming away from the centre brake light, will check that thanks. Dgm, thanks for replying too, my local dealer doesn't get a good name so will avoid.

Thanx guys,

Hi Steve,

Didn't think they were connected but thanks for the tip, I'll check the drains. Don't want a bust hood motor as well!!!
