Water ingress

I have had my zed 5 or 6 years and it is I am afraid a bit of a garage queen coming out at weekends on sunny days. When I first got it I almost stripped the car down to clean it all up to my standards. I noticed that it was a bit wet under the passenger carpet, mostly under the seat and going backwards from there but also a bit damp along the whole run. It didn't actually feel like water but a slippery oil. Fast forward a few years and I had the roof motor moved into the boot. The motor was a real mess with almost zero hydraulic oil. Fast forward again to today as I prepare the car for its not on Friday and I notice that the roof motor looks like it is short on oil and putting my hand under the rear seat and under the carpet join again it's feel damp and oily.
It may be my imagine but I know how far a small amount of hydraulic oil can travel and I am wondering if it is a rusty hydraulic line seeping oil which then gets in behind the passenger seat and soaks into the rubber padding. If this is a possibility how can I verify this and how difficult is it to replace a failing line. Thanks
