Water in sills

Hi all, I have a 2004 e85 which has water sloshing about in the front of the sill.

I have checked the rear drains and they are fine.

It has started coming in to the driver footwell and wetting the carpets.

I have Google searched and some have said the jacking point can stop water from draining out and by wiggling it by hand loads of water comes out.

I've also seen some have drilled the jacking points as a more permanent solution. My question is where in the pad should the hole be drilled, near the middle, anywhere on the sunken section?

Otherwise is it OK to just remove the pad and say keep it in the glove box when needed? If so is it just lever off with a screwdriver job or more complicated?

Thanks

Mark

If you can put up with this guy, he has the problem and shows draining via the jacking points.

I think as long as you clear the drains, remove the grommets and drain it, you should be ok.

I think people with this problem in the past discovered water was getting in from the front scuttle side panels. I didn't have water in the sills or footwell but discovered a nice little pond backed up either side of the bulkhead scuttle caused by a blocked front drain under the bonnet. I posted about clearing the drain a few years ago here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=40973&p=585592

Certainly worth checking (even if you haven't got a leak yet)
