the few drops i see, can been fallin of the boot into that opening when opening up the boot, has happend many times to me, never had a flooded boot either.
I believe there is a drain in there, under the bracket. Water in that area on my 2005 Z4 drains away very quickly, under the bracket somewhere. and comes out under the car.
