hi guys,

Is there are way to watch the f1 qualy and races (preferably legally) without getting a sky subscription for on-the-move people?

Thanks.

Hi I have an I phone app which gives you real time info for practice/qualifying /race and even plots the cars on the track but sadly no video ? It's great for keeping you up to date has news and press/ media stuff as we'll it's called F1 timing and it's about £20

:)

Don't think so. If you get Sky HD the F1 channel(s) are free I think, you don't need the Sports package. Or at least I have them, and don't have Sports. Once you have Sky HD you can then get the Sky Go app (free) which allows you to watch a huge amount of Sky content anywhere as long as you have a decent wifi/3G/4G connection.

Unfortunately I don't know of any other legal way of doing it. Half the races are on BBC, so you should be able to watch them live on iPlayer.

Exactly - you need your login name and password for Sky to use it.

Not quite on the move but mashup tv via raspberry pi gets you all sport channels for free.

Download xbmc for pc and add reposite install.mashupxbmc.com

Looks like I might be getting a sky subscription and then sky go then... - the normal package will get me sky sports for f1?

They've changed it now, you have to subscribe to Sky sports package now to get f1, used to be just the HD pack but anything to get a bit more money. Do like the sky coverage though

That's so frustrating! Are you sure, which channel exactly do I need?

100%. You need to take the sky sports package on top of the basic pack. Around £40 a month I believe for that. If it's purely for F1 your better just sticking to BBC coverage.

I feel fortunate now - I still get it free without Sports. Finally, a benefit for being a long-standing customer !

Arghh that's way too much - I could use that to go to a live race! The BBC doesn't cover all the races though. :(

+1 so do I - or has it changed for this season?

So if you already had when it was 'free' with the HD pack you continue to get it for that (doesn't mean they won't hike the price of the HD pack at some point tho!), it's only new customers now that have to get it with Sky Sports pack.

BBC and Sky are the only places to watch it legally in the UK. Any other methods are up to you!

Nope, unless you've got a good chum willing to give you his Sky Go subscription!

Can you do that without having Sky though ?

Yes you can. Contact Sky and they will sort it out... I do.

I live in a listed property so can't put a dish up.

EDIT - it's covered in the FAQ on Sky's site http://help.sky.com/tv/sky-tv-on-other-devices/watch-sky-online-without-a-subscription
