Watchfinder any good?

Hi all,

Has anyone any experience of Watchfinder.co.uk for a used purchase? I have a Tag Carrera Monaco Grand Prix that I may consider part exing against another Tag they have for sale but any feedback would be useful on them. The Tag they have in I can't find anywhere else for sale at the mo so they may be my only choice unless I wait.

Cheers,

Tim.

Google is your friend :) https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.watchfinder.co.uk Trust Pilot is a bona fide review site with unbiased customer reviews. I've just filled out a review with them for the company who fitted my Good Year tyres

I got my Tag from watchfinder, very professional and willing to do a deal as well.

Haggle hard :)

Thanks guys.

I've looked at Trustpilot and a number of the watch forums which give a very mixed bag. Unsure how much I can haggle if I trade another watch against a purchase. I contacted Blowers for a price on my Carrera which is the Ltd Edn Grand Prix and they offered a paltry 1250 on a mint watch. They would probably sell it for 2250

Just like cars Tim it's best to sell privately and then use the money to buy the next one. That way you will get the best price both on sale and purchase, saving you a pretty sum.

Tim you have any pics of the Tag mate?

I basically knocked them down to a point where i thought the deal was fair, also blagged an extended warranty too.

I found them excellent to be honest.

Just getting pissed off with the ridiculous offers and the 900 is all I can afford messages :x I don't understand why people even bother messaging.

Thanks Andy, yes obviously would prefer to sell privately to get the best price but would be a shame if the other watch I'm interested in is sold sooner rather than later :|

Watch looks great Tim,

I wanted the Monaco edition with the stainless strap when i was looking!

Maybe put it up for sale on here too.

What Tag are you looking to buy ? Have you tried any of the main dealers for a part ex price or is the Tag no longer on sale. Not to sure Tag are good at holding their value in my opinion. But then we always think are things cars, watches etc. are always worth more. As for watchfinder I have purchased once and found them to be good to deal with although this was quite a while ago now. As a side note have you looked at IconicWatches online discounts of 26% or more on Tags. Good luck with your sale and any future purchase. Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at a Monaco Gulf which isn't available anymore so will be a used buy. There's a few on Chrono 24 but I just want to make sure condition is good if buying off the net. I was keen on a Bell & Ross which Blowers had in which they classed as mint unworn but only offered me 1250 for my Carrera as part ex which is also mint. I reckon they would have sold mine for 2200 so I thought a grand profit was taking the p*ss. I haven't asked Watch finder for a trade in price but I expect similar to Blowers. Listing for the Carrera ends on eBay soon so will see how it goes.

Regards,

Tim.

The Gulf is a lovely watch , which Bell & Ross were you interested in me and my better half have one each. Nice to meet a fellow with a similar passion.

The problem you have is that Tag's are horrendous at holding their value. There isn't much love for them in the circles of watch enthusiasts so you're ideal buyer is going to be someone who doesn't know much about watches and is of the (common) belief that a Tag is a high end brand. I think the £1250 offered by Blowers is a very good price from a dealer. By all means, stick to your guns on your price and you may get lucky.

On a side note, do you not fancy branching away from the boggo standard Swiss ETA brands and buying a proper watch?

I had a quote against my Rolex Sub for a Deep Sea - they offered me 4750 and the watch is 3 years old. It cost me 5600 so i'd say there offer was off. They do come across well as a trader though.

Hi Steve,

I was looking at the BR03-92 Steel, Blowers had one in for £1850 unworn but then I got slightly swayed by this Steinhart of which only 111 were made

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steinhart-Le-Mans-GT-Heritage-/111613894839?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19fcb4e0b7

More I look at though its a bit of a hotch potch of a watch using their aviation chrono case and bit too much, this has now led me onto the Tag Gulf which to me looks much better.
