Washing your car this weekend?

Fair play to you all

Mine's going to have to get used to having a "protective" layer of dirt for a bit - I doubt if I'd survive washing her in this weather

Was going to brave today as mines filthy went for a run to the coast early this morning so needs doing but worried the water may freeze on the drive which is not good as my young nephew is coming over and has to walk with the aid of sticks so the last thing the little fella needs to deal with is ice.

Have got some of this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/optimum-no-rinse-32oz/prod_773.html is ideal for this sort of weather but not keen using it on a really dirty car and i am not happy with the way the paint surface felt after using it

I'll be washing her this weekend, just done the misses car and that was fine using plenty of foam, warm water in the buckets and warm water to rinse. I was wearing shorts so it can't have been that bad!

My cars covered in snow, so no chance for a while, may have to take it to hand wash in the week, then I have the choice of either a dirty car or one with water streaks all over it :(

The temperature is 0C outside. The ice formed on the car is not going to melt. No chance to wash it today. :(

Hope next weekend the temperature will go up a few degree.

The outdoor tap is frozen. The tap is connected to the pipe with a separate valve, and it is always closed when not in used. Is the outdoor tap is now broken? :( But it wasn't broken last winter.

You missed a bit Nosa

That's my plan for tomorrow. The poor thing hasn't been washed in weeks due to work and crap weather. I've got three days off now so I'll need to see what excuse I can come up with tomorrow...
Something makes me think JimmyPop won't have been washing his car this weekend after all...

No chance today the car was covered in frost till around 12 and never completely melted even now there is still frost on one side of the top and will start freezing up again in the next few hours

Never mind washing the car!! Couldn't even get into mine this morning! Windows were frozen up so couldn't get in! No time to try unfreezing them so I took the old 4x4 instead!

I sprayed de-icer around the window frame and windscreen before I had my breakfast. When I returned to the car 15 minutes later, the window glass dropped with no problem, and door could be opened. Try it next time.

I'll have to buy some. Don't tend to use de-icer much though as it marked the paintwork on a car I owned once! Matted the top coat! :o

Thats why i steer clear of de-icer if i intend to use a car on an icy morning i will pop a sheet of thin cardboard across the windscreen held down with the wipers

The instructions of some de-icer do mention it should not be left on paintwork (cheap de-icer?), I always buy BMW own brand, or Autoglym one.

mine is always garaged so di-icer has never touched my vehicle !.......as for washing i am giving my rims a quick once over due to all the salt on the roads.

I am going to wash my car now. The temperature here is above 1C. :)
 good luck!

Re de-icer, I don't touch the stuff. Rain X (or equivalent) applied to all windows make removing frost/ice very easy. I've done all windows (inc side/rear) of our vehicles that park outside and a rubber-bladed scraper is sufficient to clear the windows. No need to risk using a plastic-edged scraper at all.

Actually managed to get into mine today!! Out in it at the moment. May wash it on way home if there is a jet wash free. It's filthy! Few rear wheel slides put of corners this morning! 8)
