Washing Machines

We also have a Miele washing machine and dishwasher, the Wm is 15 years old and still works perfect. There are 4 people in our house and the WM is on at least once a day, sometimes twice, so it's well used. We replaced a 25 year old Miele WM, which we got from a family member.
They do cost a bit more, but do last many many years.

I use the (Miele) washing machine and know 1 program that I use to wash the washing mitts with :)

Miele came with the 10 year warranty, so was no brainer.

Notice no ladies have made an input, perhaps they are all washing. To add another idea,Siemens are very good, probably the Mercedes/Audi/BMW of machines, whereas the Miele would be Rolls Royce territory.

Thanks for the replies guys, really useful and good to know thats its not just hype. I've looked at the Bosch and Siemens but unsure they would be better than say LG or indeed Hotpoint. I guess anything reasonably complicated can fail but like the idea of paying out a bit more for something that will hopefully last a very long time and save buying a cheaper item a number of times.

Sumply would mot use anything but miele for washers. Had out cur current machine 15 years (washer / dryer) and brought up a family using it. Think 10 washes a week, all in silence with 100% reliability. Parents had theirs for way over 25 years and it won't die ...
.Simply like talking about a Rolls vs Fords, Vauxhall, etc and asking what the differnce is.

Any more questions???

Brill thanks for that

I think from the replies I've pretty much made my mind up. I'd never even considered Miele but only stumbled across them when I Googled 59.5cm width lol which threw them up as thats the width of their machines, same as Hotpoint. The standard is 60cm lol.

F**king Hotpoint part didn't fix my dishwasher. It's going in the skip at 1yr, 2 months old.

Won't be getting another

Sorry to hear that Rob :( Can be a bit if a gamble at times. Like my Hotpoint Cooker that packed in 3 weeks ago on the main oven. I thought about replacing the element but tried that with the previous oven and it didn't sort it. After my fiasco with Currys last week with my new Cooker delivery and me rejecting it and cancelling the order I thought I would try a replacement element and it worked :) I think this is whats got me thinking of paying more for something a bit better quality.

Yes, I think I will be looking for something better next time. I notice some machines have a 5 year warranty if purchased through John Lewis.

Also there is a cash back/ trade in offer on at the moment, so maybe worth a look for you as well.

Thanks Rob, just had a quick look on the JL website, shame theyre not doing the cashback on a Miele but £250 trade in against a Bosch washer dryer.

We have a Panasonic, had it 6 years now and it's not missed a beat... I recon the mid range is good (Bosch, Samsung, Siemens etc)... kinda like the Z4... no need to necessarily go for the Bentley ;)

Only problem for me is size :?

A 600mm washing machine especially a washer dryer which is pretty heavy will have minimum clearance in our kitchen where it slots in which makes it a pain to move in and out unless I change the kitchen lol, why we have a Hotpoint which are slightly narrower than the norm. The Miele is narrower which would be useful.

I've seen care homes, caravan sites and other multiple user establishments and Miele tends to be in place at most - I think that says a lot.
