Washer jets - bottle - all sorts...

Hello!

Ok so last week my little light came on to say I've not got any washer fluid left and as I was driving close to halfords at the time I went and brought myself one of those 5 litre bottles of ready mixed fluid they always seem to have out the front of the shop!
Poured nearly all if it in, up to the brim two days later I was on the motorway and the light came on again, I dont think I had even used any fluid, maybe one or two sprays to get rid of the bugs but definitely not 4/5 litres of water! So anyway I kinda just put it down to a faulty sensor and lived with it a couple of days before finally being bothered to go an investigate the problem! There was no liquid there!! I thought I must have a leak in the bottle somewhere which handily drained away whatever I spent in halfords!
Anyway I've just gone down again now to full the bottle up, this time with tap water! Waited there a good 10 mins to see if I could spot any kind of leak and no sign of any drips anywhere! So then, and I dont really know why but I decided to try the washer jets only to find that...unless im doing something wrong the drivers side headlamp jet quickly pops out twice but doesn't spray any water, however the nozzle is wet ( I know this because its missing the cap for it, where can you get these from anyway?!) and the passenger side one doesn't even pop up, not that I could tell...it definitely didn't spray anyway!

Anyway...help haha!

Mail. I recently had something similar on my Coupe. I took it to my local Independent Lee who sorts my car out as I am useless with a spanner. He had a quick look and told me that it's a common fault that the pipe feeding the headlamp washers breaks and so the fluid loss is there.

He fixed it quickly enough but did break the cover removing the pipe which again is apparently common when fixing this fault. Additionally the leaking washer fluid from this source can then leak into the spotlights causing them to go rusty.

So your problem could be the headlamp washer pipe, but be careful pulling off the cap when fixing it. Or if your like me take it to your nearest Lee!

As above either the pipes to the jets (the issue I had) or the jets themselves are leaking. Replacement pipe from washer bottle to both jets is about £25 from main dealer.

Cheers guys, Ill have a look at the pipes and see if I can find a leak!

Do you happen to know where I could get the missing washer jet cover from? Aside from main dealer, or are they my only hope?

I think that's your only hope, although they should only be £12 each or thereabouts. My neighbour lost both of his on his E9X and that's what he paid.

Same. The tube from the reservoir to the jets perishes and leaks. You usually end up with washer fluid peeing out everywhere and a full tank lasts about a day.
It's an MOT failure so you need to get it sorted.
