Washer jets: access and repair

I have a leaky n/s washer jet. Not sure if it’s the pipe or the jet body itself yet, but after filling the main reservoir there’s a pretty large puddle under the front passenger side front bumper.

Don’t really want to take the entire front bumper off, so can these be inspected and removed through the wheel arch hatch? Either need to fix, replace or blank it off (non-xenon so fine for MOT I think).

My latest Coupe had the same problem when I collected it. The main issue is if it's leaking you soon run out of fluid for the screenwashers which isn't great this time of year!

Ross (bowser134 on here) managed to replace it without taking the bumper off, but had to remove the front section of the wheel-arch liner for decent access.

Now it doesn't leak I've pulled Fuse 40 so it won't leak again, fly out or lose the cover as they are prone to doing.

Thanks Mr.T. Isn’t the jet water pressure operated, so pulling the fuse would only stop them working, not leaking?

Yes, pulling the fuse only stops them working - but I did that after Ross had fixed the leak.

Ah okay. I’ll take a look. If they are beyond repair I may just seal them off and fuse deactivate for good

Just in case somebody wants to check in the future; washer jets can indeed be check and accessed through the front wheel inspection hatches. Just turn the wheel to full lock right for accessing left, and fully left for the right hand side of the car.

My leaky side was bone dry (pic below) so going to check elsewhere for where this might be happening. Washers work for windscreen and the noise of the headlamp washers is there, just no emergence from the car and this massive leak of all washer fluid.

It will be the body of the washer jet - the seal goes inside. Only solution is disconnect them or replace the entire assembly (around £60 - £80 iirc).

If you have xenons disconnecting them isn’t really an option as it will be an mot fail. Ok with halogen though I believe.

The little blighters might still spring off into a hedge row though.

My understanding is they shouldn't fall under MOT if pre 2009 (which is all e85/e86).

But it’s not wet anywhere near the body of the washer jet, which is confusing me.
