Was I right to walk away?

mr wilks your wheels look great, what are they?

They are OEM csl wheels , i was very fortunate to inherit them with the car as i doubt i would have been able to justify the ££ in them otherwise

Yes to walk away!!

Unless you were set on keeping it forever and had the money to rebuild the engine.....far more likely than other examples IMO.....

also you can kiss private resale value good bye....

You did the right thing.....

I've got a tentative deal with Tamworth on the red z4mr. After being initially very weary about the service history I've negotiated an inspt 2 service and an additional year warranty i.e. 24 months.

Sorry I missed your post.

They offered me a good trade in deal, but if I hadn't got the silver one, I was going to go back and try to do what you did. I think you got a good deal and it's a great car.
The roof is fine btw.

I had a couple of worries tho.
Would the warranty hold up due to the non BMW service history?
How much of a price hit/trouble selling would you have when you try to pass it on?

But.....with the right deal I would have had the car...great colour.

Ratty64, just noticed that did the deal.....congratulations, great car let me know how you get on it. It will be interesting to compare notes from 2 new z4m owners. Are you local to the tamworth area?

Mate you're dreaming if you think skipping the inspection 2 is going to result in rebuilding the engine at a later stage! Failing to replace the spark plugs and air filter (the only real engine related differences of an inspection 2 vs inspection 1) are not going to cause any damage.

Congrats to ratty64 on his purchase! You've done well!

I second this, its a 10 year old car so as long as oil changes have been made and the car drives and sounds as it should, that's more important.

Cheers, I pick it up on Thursday so not too long now.

I'm in ashby so Tamworth is the local dealer. I'll get the warranty extension in writing and most likely get any work done there so they shouldn't have much wiggle room to get out of doing any work if required.
