Warranty?

I'm insured on the BMW one for my 2010 2.5, and the cover with 100 xs is £53 a month. I've modded the car slightly, (electric seats, cruise, STUBBY 
!) but there was no problem paying out when I claimed recently. Get a quote here:

Warranties are ten a penny because they make people money, a lot of money. Bank it Busterboo, chances are nothing major will go wrong with a well serviced car, then you’ll keep the saved money if not needed. Do these warranties cover adaptive shocks? Turbo’s? Roof problems? When my manufacturer warranty runs out in April there’s no way I’ll be buying another, although admittedly I don’t do big miles in mine, and I’m happy to do spanner work but even so, if they don’t cover the 3 items I’ve mentioned.....

I’ve saved thousands of pounds in repairs on my vehicles with warranty Direct over the years. Wouldn’t use anyone else. They just replaced my van mirror for £380 because it houses the external temperature sensor that was faulty. That repair alone covered the cost of the warranty.

My 04 still has bmw warranty and in reality the 10+ years I’ve paid for it will have cost a lot more than what I’ve had out of it but I enjoy the piece of mind it brings.
Its all well and good saying bank it but one claim could pay for the whole thing.
When I had the warranty on my Z4M coupe the xenon bulb and ignitor went that one item was more than the warranty for the year.
The 35s have complicated engines and electronics there is plenty that can go wrong, tbh the less you use the the more likely it will have issues like injectors. They have to be replaced in 3s, just replacing the injectors the 'Cheapest' i found from a specialist was £1350, then theres the water pump, roof, wheels, adaptive springs etc etc The adaptive sus is £400 a corner, they do leak its a matter of when.
Nothing may go wrong but generally when something goes wrong a few things go too. Its usually not the parts its the labour.
The injectors fro example if they go and are left can cause all sorts of damage like bent rods etc tracing it all back takes time and costs labour.

Depends on your experience the people who've been lucky will say don't bother, the ones that have had lots of work will tell you the opposite. Any car can turn into a money pit.
Depends on the car and how long you've owned it. If I had owned from new or nearly new i probably would be less inclined as I know how its been treated and looked after etc
BMW is the best bet IMO nice and easy no worries with filling claims just take it to any garage and they will fix it regardless of labour.

Things like; If your alternator goes, they WILL cover the rotating internals but NOT the casing, so basically won't pay out, same with water pumps and the likes. The small print on aftermarket ones listing the exclusions is usually pages long..
When I was a business manager at a multi franchise main dealer, the warranty was a pure money maker. On some deals more profit was made from it than the car! However dealers "burn rates" (sales £ vs claims £) are closely monitored by the warranty company and as such the warranty co will wriggle like fook to avoid paying out..

My 35i that I bought from a main dealer only a few weeks ago came with the BMW warranty and it’s already paying for itself. I tried to get the software updated and it failed when updating the CIC system due to a fault in the stereo. It is currently at the dealers having a new audio unit fitted. I also have a tyre which is going down slowly - looks like it’s leaking from the rim. The local tyre dealer didn’t want to touch it as they needed to remove & refit but doing that on low profile RFTs often destroys them and they didn’t have a replacement. If the dealer can’t refit it successfully they will have to replace it. I know tyres aren’t usually covered but I complained about the tyre losing pressure in the first week so it was clearly delivered like that. It could be that the dealer will have to cover that cost.

My 2013 35iS has just had 12 months comprehensive cover at £439 with a £100 excess. For me this isnt to take care of small stuff, Il go to an indie for that but for bigger stuff e.g. my high pressure fuel pump is noisy, big job to replace, its going into the dealer for its annual inspection on Tuesday and the noise will get investigated and if they find the fault, it will get fixed. As already stated the BMW warranty is superb and Ive never had any issue with claims etc. Ive also looked in depth at the third party options and at a push warranty direct is probably the best of a poor bunch its not cheap and does have some bad press.
