Warranty - to extend, or not to extend...

As my AUC warranty has expired, I have a choice of extending at reduced prices... thinking of biting their arm off on the £284.86 comprehensive with £250 excess and no emergency for the year

Not had to claim anything since buying the car Jan2013 and almost 7kmiles later... but with it heading onto inspection II and starting to show signs of age, and pretty much anything significant costing more than £250 to fix, perhaps it would be wise...

Anyone else disagree/see things differently?

Does not look like M prices to me? Thought it was well over 1k.

Mine was c.£700 for the year. I'm going to try it for a year and see if anything goes wrong. If nothing goes wrong I won't renew

I checked the BMW warranty price on a 57 plate, 35k Z4MC and it came to £1677 for fully comp, no excess (via BMW warranty website).

Guessing you get much better deals when renewing!

It does look low. Mine has been £89 per month or thereabouts since the AUC warranty expired. That's zero excess, BMW assist, comprehensive cover.

Mine is the same - even though I've probably claimed for a bit more than you, and other than the engine diagnostic costs there was never a quibble about covering something (engine, diff, wiper relay, wheel bearing, hatch corrosion, parking sensors, and a couple of gaskets/seals for oil & air-con leaks). :P

If you (JuniorJet) do go for it then make sure you put it onto the monthly policy, as whilst it costs a little more over the year, it doesn't increase each year and you can cancel it at any time.

If I was to take the same policy out for mine (assuming I didn't already have it in place and did it before 100k miles) it would now cost over £2000 a year.

if this is for an ///M then im going to onto BMW warranty today as im paying circa the 90 quiid mark a month on mine!!!

I've just filled out a quote on warranty direct and for my ///M <30k miles the quote is £1050 for the calendar year.

If you can get £284 it sounds like a bargain.

It is just wrong, it can't be for an M.

Hah... Turns out someone f***ed up...

For the £250 excess comprehensive its actually £653.36.

So with a £370 price hike... Should I still do it?

Insurance companies are really only bookmakers who set the odds in their favour.

If you are disciplined enough, stick your £653.36 premium into a toffee tin each year then if something drastic goes wrong add your £250 excess - If the bill is less than £903 you are in profit!

Having said that, I have a warranty - but it wasn't as expensive as that!

How do Warranty Direct compare with the BMW warranty? Worth considering?
