Warranty Question

My warranty is due to expire the 6th May (God had my Zed nearly a year now! :D ) anyway Comprehensive cover is £427 per year and for the last year I have enjoyed the reassurance of having a warranty. I have just read through all the what's covered and what's not and just wanted to check is the roof motor and springs covered? I have notcied with BMW there is plenty of interpretation to the rules! Williams Liverpool wouldnt replace my cracked 3rd brake light but Halliwell Jones Warrington will :headbang:

Personally I wouldn't have thought a brake light would be covered unless it could be shown to be a manufacturing batch issue, as trim is specifically excluded.

It is entirely down to the dealer, and to some extent the level of warranty claims they're allowed to make.

If one dealer is known for making spurious claims then the warranty company may reduce their warranty limits to force them to only take jobs that are 100% covered or risk having to pay for those claims themselves.

Some dealers will do small repairs on good will and not even claim from the warranty company, in an attempt to show good will so that you become a more regular (paying) customer.

Some are just t***ts.

Perhaps better to ask on renewal and record the answer by date time and name of person giving you the response especially if it's positive.

  Your right some are just t***ts and thanks Alan for the advice re ask my question direct and record the answer, the older Im getting the more cynical I am becoming, recording who I spoke to, date, time etc...

Hi, I renewed my warranty two years ago on April 12 on April 13 the roof motor failed, I was charged the 100.00 pounds excess only, they had the car two days, don't know what the charge would have been without the warranty.

How does the BMW warranty work? When I was in the process of buying my AUC Z4, I was told by the salesguy in Williams Liverpool that he couldn't give me a price on renewing the warranty as it would depend on the age and mileage of the car.

And Bobbydm has a warranty with zero excess on his. Can you specify this just like an insurance quote?

i would go 1 stage further, write a letter and ask questions, then if they reply in writing you have got it

my concern will be the N52 valve issues

I have copied the letter sent and it does make reference to mileage! Bought mine on around 20k and put 8k on!

Springs are covered upto 60k miles.
BMW saleman won't give you a price because the warranty isn't from BMW, it's from a third party called Mondial. The price is dependant on milage, there is upto 60k miles and then after 60k miles where the price is significantly more. In the case of my previous M3 the difference was something like £8-900. If you are anywhere near the 60k miles mark it is worth taking out the monthly policy, it works out slightly more over the year, however the price doesn't increase, you just continue paying the same monthly payment irrelevant of the milage.
