Hi

Anyone any views on whether it is worth considering (or even feasible) purchasing warranty cover on a used Z?

(I have an 06 Z4M with c 90k on the clock)

Thanks

BMW will only warranty until 100k.

Tbh you are better off putting £100 away each month just in case.

I would say no. The cost to start at 90K will be very high I suspect. Find yourself a decent independent and get it checked over initially, then put the money aside if it will help budget as srhutch said.

If you get a quote for a warranty, I expect it will be a shock. Remember the Driveline policy only covers upto about £5K I think, so wouldn't even cover if the engine went bang. You basically need comprehensive for piece of mind, which is too expensive in my mind.

Not to mention that for every 10k above 60k (?), the payment reduction is 10% with companies like Warranty Direct.

BMW/Mondial will take your money after 100k miles (it's best to be on the monthly premiums well before that, otherwise the premium doubles), but the cover they provide at that mileage is negligible.

Not worth it in my opinion - and that's coming from someone who paid into the Mondial monthly warranty for 4-5 years until the car hit 100k+.

I was thinking of you when posting that. I though it ran out, but like all things guess they are happy to take your money if they gain out of it.

I agree with srhutch, put a £100 a month away towards repairs. If nothing goes wrong over a year treat yourself to an holiday at the end :D
