Warranty extension

The AU BMW warranty expires next month and those nice BMW people are offering me an extension for between £550 for comprehensive and £396 for Drivetrain only.

Since my car has only covered 14000 miles and I will do ca 10000/ year I'm not inclined to take them up on their offer - has anyone experience major issues which would change this decision?

I took it.. knowing the 35i has the potential to cost more to repair than most, turbos, dct etc...

Its contentious as some never have an issue and some have lots. I've had a lot of small issues, but then I'm also fastidious.

If I was keeping my car beyond its warranty period I would be taking it , nothing has gone wrong with mine so far but as they are quite complicated cars I think the potential for them to go wrong is fairly high

Or you could put the premiums into a savings account each year!

I've had my Disco3 waranty for four years now - at £500 / year - Ive had one claim and that was for a turbo and actuator replacement - £1200

Insurance companies are bookmakers who set the odds!

Thanks - share Ronk' view. I had a 3l E86 for 3 years and it was 9 years old whe I changed to the E89 - I never had any problems and since I don't have turbo's and DCT gearbox I was believing that the current car is mechanically pretty similar. So I'm going to be my own insurance agent.
