Warranty companies?

Anyone heard or, or more specifically had any dealings with Click4Warranty.co.uk?

I've just been sent a link by a friend with an E60 M5 and he's going on about this company being 'about £300' for a year's comprehensive warranty.
Now, I didn't believe him as I always think 'if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is', so thought I'd ask on here for anyone else's experiences.

For example, on my 19,000 mile Z4MC, it's quoting £270 for a 3-star warranty, £275 for a 4-star warranty, and £342 for a 5-star warranty - all with unlimited number of claims upto a maximum of £7000 per claim.

They also cover wear & tear items along with mechanical failures. They lay out all the reasons why you wouldn't get the full amount reimbursed/authorised - 'Betterment' for example: your car has 60,000 miles and the suspension is worn, so by replacing it with brand new parts they'll be putting your car in a better state than it was before the warranty was taken out, therefore they'll knock off 10% of the claim, if it's 100,000 miles they'll knock off 50%, if it's 20,000-59,999 they'll pay the whole thing.

I can't see any negatives to it - can anyone else?

If the policy states it covers things, I can't really see how you can go wrong as such? I have taken insurance companies head on in the past with claim delays (pet insurance in that case), so it can take long (i.e. 6 months to pay up) but eventually, they will pay up if you persist.

If you have the money to pay for the repairs in advance before claiming back from the company, then you should be ok.

When mine is due sometimes next year, I would certainly look at something like that as I don't mind a battle if need be (and hopefully you will never need to claim anyway).

Yup - sounds good good to be true and they may contest claims!

I went with BMW warranty as there is zero excess and they pay claims direct

So the betterment is only in force for wear and tear claims?

Seems cheap for wear and tear for an M car, all said and done! Makes me wonder how happy they are to pay out...

The only reason I don't want a BMW warranty, is that I will be taking my servicing outside the BMW network once the car is 3 years old.

My friend & M-power guru is much more trustworthy and will cost me less than half what BMW charge for servicing (maintenance will be done there anyway) - and he's got the nod from his local BMW dealer to do a lot of work as they're passing the older (i.e. 5 years+) M cars to him as they find them too much trouble.

it might only be a saving on one oil service (£200 vs £50 assuming I supply the oil) (although I also tend to do an interim oil service myself anyway - handwritten in the service book) and an inspection (£600 vs £300) per year, plus the saving on the cost of the warranty.

Having a couple of hundred/grand on a CC for a couple of weeks/months after a warranty claim won't make any difference as I always have a couple of grand of expenses going through the CC most months anyway, and if I can save £1000 over the course of the year then that means a free trip to the 'Ring.

It's a company called Darjac Racing, but he's based just off the A120 between Braintree & Colchester, Essex - might be a bit of a trip for you.

It's 3-3.5 hours for me from Liverpool (240 miles via M56, M6, A14, M11, A120) but I usually stay over and have dinner. The saving in servicing costs more than covers the cost of the petrol there & back and the price of a good meal and couple of bottles of wine.

I must warn you though that he's not one to simply replace -for example - a water hose which has bust. He takes an engineering approach to fixing things and will report back that it's a heater valve, radiator, water pump problem that's causing the hose to burst and then ask you whether you want him to simply replace the hose (at your risk) or for him to fix the problem completely.

Even though he's a mate, I still find I have to give him about a month's notice for anything other than an oil change, as he simply doesn't have the space (yet) to handle more than about 3 cars at once, and I know he's putting a new BMW-sourced (i.e. £9k's worth) S38-B36 engine in for someone who's already spent thousands on their e34 M5.

Thought I'd point out that I'm not recommending Click4Warranty at all, I was just looking for recommendations from anyone who has experience of them or any other warranty company to help my decision process later in the year.

If C4W are crap then I won't use them, and all I know is I certainly won't be going with a BMW warranty - for personal reasons only as I've not had experience of a BMW extended warranty since I had one on a e34 M5 some 10 years ago.
