warning when stowing taller items in boot

Swmbo used the zed to go to work yesterday put here bags in the boot then lowered the roof, I was still in bed and could hear the warning bong going
looked out the window to see the roof stowed in the boot but the lid was up in its vertical position and refused to budge.
Got up to investigate tried turning off ignition but it still refused to move. I asked what she had put in the boot and she told me she had put her
taller bag in first then pushed in the second heavier bag in second, I could lift the roof a couple on inches and could see the top of the taller bag sticking up in the gap between
pull down tray and the front of the boot looking from the rear car. This was stopping the roof sections from stowing completely luckily after much groping under the tray I was able to pull the heavier bag back a bit which took the pressure off the first bag and was able to get the roof to finish its cycle. It seems strange that the roof sections didn't go back up to a neutral position when they couldn't stow properly :o
Moral of story be careful when putting things in the boot that have the possibility of getting into this gap

I always try and pay attention to the red markings which show the height of where any items can't go above, tho at times I reckon I've had shopping in the boot that does get squashed a tiny bit by the roof. Glad you managed to sort it though! Hope you gave SWMBO a telling off? :P

Also on newer cars there's a net to highlight to the user if a bag has pushed up the gap.

I did this once and you learn quickly ;)

only when she couldn't hear me I'm not that brave :)

I had exactly the same experience last week. SWMBO stacked up too much stuff in the space under the tray, despite my polite suggestions to do otherwise.

Somehow it came out as my fault when the mechanism jammed. Still trying to work that one out.

Yeh the net is a good idea, I noticed this on my new one I was racking my head thinking this was not in my last one and what if anything was there.
