Yes I have still come on the parking brake light and abs stay on when ignition is off and keys are out also occasionally the engine light comes on but when you check faults when engine running only highlights abs and brake fluid which is full. :(

It might be time to get the code reader out then...

Good luck!

Thanks (think probably wrongly) that it could be water ingress as there was quite a bit of water dropping down from the roof when I took it for a spin.

THe old ageing /flat battery can be a big contrubutor to miscellaneous faults of this type...age of the battery?

Was it float charged whilist it was laid up?

Was it charged correctly?

No was just left from Oct to Now however it started first time and all was ok until I put a little air in the tyres and reset them then half a mile or so lit up like a Christmas tree now the engine light is on also. Strange that when I take the key out ABS and Parking warning stays on for a while. Also when you first open the door and get in without turning the ignition on you get the parking brake bong.

How old is the car/battery?

Have you read all the ebrake issues after letting the battery drop below 11.5v? It quite often seems updating the ebrake software is the only cure, you may need a replacement battery as well :o

Yes have just read through some my brake still works apart from the bong when you open the door. Do you need to re code after new battery

SmartBear may we’ll be right...general issue is that a low state of charge on the battery can throw a myriad of both false positives and screw up the EMF parking brake..

First step is to make sure battery is FULLY CHARGED , then start and run engine, then attach fault code reader and see what it says.. :tumbleweed:

Then reset all fault codes, switch off, repeat..

That’s the definitive way..somebody with a Carly or Foxwell can do that if you ask nicely..or buy one yourself, useful in long term..

If the parking brake has thrown its toys out of the peak then it’s usually a dealer type level fix...with a pc and serious s5£t software..

Thanks trip to Halfords for a new battery first I think (do they code it if they fit it)

Yes they can register it, which is what you do if it’s the same capacity...make sure you specify AGM, it needs to be coded if the battery is a different capacity and registered..pedantically..

And all because a motorised/mechanical item solely intended to be driven on a frequent basis to maintain it's driveability/reliability is subsequently left standing idle for months on end! :headbang:

Thanks for input at just over 11k miles a year she does get driven just not on our Scottish roads in the winter.

Turned out to be a OSR abs sensor that caused the Christmas tree affect :D
