Warning lights on....advice please

Dav the wheel nut

Veteran

Driving along steadily when two warning lights came on together.
Telltale light for DSC and yellow brake warning light are on permanently.
According to hand book this means quote ''Dynamic Stability Control DSC Dynamic Traction Control DTC and Dynamic Brake Control are defective. Have system repaired by BMW''
It then says the vehicle can be driven normally without these.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the seriosness of the problem, is it a BMW repair only issue and what's it going to set me back?

Thank you

sounds like what many of us have had recently...

mine turned out to be ABS/DSC pressure sensors @ £85 plus fitting each + investigation + VAT! about £380 all in if they hadnt also found a broken spring :(

mines an 04 as well

Yep, I had this on my 53 plate car too. Seems to be a common thing to go at about the 7 year mark. Mine cost me about £200 to get sorted.

Indie can do it.
Another (cheaper) possibility is one of the wheel speed sensors has died. Without both ABC and DSC's ability to read the speed of the individual wheels they can't calculate for traction control or ABS.

(note your speedometer will continue to work, that speed sensor is in your differential.)

My 03 3.0 did this twice on a recent trip to france. When i switched off and then restarted, it went off.No problems since. I assumed it was sensors.Looks like I was right.Bugge  r.......

My power steering light came on yesterday, heavy steering and no power. Turned it off re started and hey presto, working fine. I blame the heat
