Warning Lights - Handbrake and DSC Light Amber

Few threads on here but it seems that various colours and combinations mean different things so thought I would start a new thread. Both lights came on today whilst I was sat on the petrol forecourt, not even moving. Any ideas?

Hi!

I had this combo of lights on my E92 - it turned out to be the DSC control box once the dealer had read the fault codes.

Hope you get it resolved quickly!

Well that's appears to be the brake pad wear sonsor light and trackshion control light, I had the same problem and it turned out to be damaged sponsors, both r locales at the rear drivers side and contect in a little black box in the wheel arch, my issue was that somehow something had flicked up and damaged the cables, I just replaced them both, turned the key once in the ignishion with the door open and they reset within 40 seconds.

Am not saything this is deffently the problem in this case but worth checking the cables.

Yeah I had this on my 1series. DSC Hydro unit needed replacing

If it is the Hydro then there is a repair kit.

Isn't that if the ABS light is on also (just doing some quick google searching)?

I had this problem and i reset the tyre pressure sensor......press button on centre console and also turned the steering wheel lock to lock very slowly, then to centre position and drove it for a few miles.

This reset the lights and they haven't been on since, happened like 4 moths ago. I have read where the sensors for stearing and wheelspin etc can go out of calibration.

I've had that today too
If you find any concrete ideas of what it may be, let me know. I may have given up on searching as there is too much variation in threads suggesting just cleaning the sensors under the brake fluid reservoir, others suggesting the brake fluid is just low to a full replacement of DSC costing ££££!

Yes you're right. I have a pic showing this but I don't know how to upload it

Good news, the lights went off today :) . Got an OBD reader coming in the post so I can read the codes if they return.

Had this happen again this morning :x Pads look ok looking through the gaps in my wheels but going to have to take the wheels off this weekend and have a thorough check. One thing after another so far.

Just had the lightbulb moment that its handbrake light and not brake pad light, so shouldn't be pads / pad sensor which look fine. Checked fluid level which is at Max, so I can only assume its electrical related. Old cars without all these electronics are so much easier! Anyone got any thoughts or experience?

happened in my 3.0SE some months ago - no apparent reason that I can remember - I drove on about a mile stopped in the first layby , turned ignition off then on again and light went out and has not reappeared since :) did ask an RAC man a week or two later when I had left our campervan lights on  - he said that it could be because of a lack of use ( ashamed to say I've only done about 500 miles in a year ) - he did say if it happens again to call him out as he has the equipment to read the codes for free :o

I had this my indie mechanic looked at it and got the following error codes.

5E24 Pressure Sensor 1/2 - Wrong Absent Signal
5E20 Pressure Sensor 1 - Defective 235E20 MEM

He said it was a common problem on the Z4 he stripped and cleaned all the brakes re-set it and said see how it goes. This was last summer been fine since traction control abs all work as expected. I expect it will rear its head again at some stage though.

Don't know if this will help I have read all kinds of threads on this some requiring abs pumps, some needing new sensors others turned the car off then back on and it disappeared and never came back.
