Warning Light

Morning everyone -I am new to the forum.
I have a MR (2006 / metallic black/ 22,500 miles). Had it for about 3 months. Yesterday a warning light appeared on the dash.
The instruction manual says its for "exhaust emission values".

I bought the car in July from the local BMW main dealer. It's booked in for them to look at it this week.

Has anyone had this warning light? Is it likely to be serious? The car still seems to drive OK and the power does not seem to have dropped. The dealership says the car is OK to drive.

Any thoughts/observations gratefully received.

Quite common, more than likely a lambda (O2) sensor that's gone.
Not expensive to sort and fine to drive for a while. :)

not expensive?? the part itself costs 160 quid and the labout will prob cost the same again.... for replacing a sensor that seems to need replacing regularly i call this expensive!!

The car has a BMW warranty so hopefully it will be covered.
Thanks for the prompt and helpful replies guys

Mike
