Warning light still on after 4 new sets of brakepads. Update: sorted :)

 Mostly Holland. Sometimes UK.
Anyone had a brakepad warning light continue burning amber after replacing brakepads?
Durham dave did the rears back in september and i've just put some new textar e-pads on the front but the pad warning light is still on.
Tried 1 min reset procedure at ignition position 2 but still on.
Any ideas? Bad wear sensor? Sensor reseat?
 
There are two sensors on the car, about a tenner each. Assuming that the fronts were ok in September last year and the light was on, I would suggest to replace the rear sensor which is an easy job.

There was no light on after dave replaced the rears. It's come on since i put the front pads on.
I'll have a crack at reseating it. Failing that, whack a new one on.
Fekin faff doin it in the cold outside tho.. :x
 
Ok, so it is the front then after this extra snippet of info :lol:

Reseating is not going to help though, the light comes on when the parts make contact so get your tight-arsed wallet out McChris and spend the tenner on a new one unless you want to lay on a puddle of ice twice to try to fix it :lol:

Haha u cheeky twonk! I've saved 1000's on garage labour costs with DIY'ing fixes to this blinkin zed!
I'll be exploring repairing the sensor if it doesnt work after a re-seat. How tight-fisted is that?!
I rewired a cam position sensor successfully before so anythings possible....

Nothing wrong with trying to save a few quid- i always think of what i can spend the savings on, but it usually manifests as just more beer on the weekends :lol:
 
We just don't want to hear you moan about your sore bones / body after spending an hour on the floor underneath that newly installed lamp post outside your house :lol:
 
I think i'm going to use the carpark down the road again. Used it a couple of times now. Bit cheeky but what the hell eh pvr, anything goes in holland!

Wht pvr doesnt realise though is that his sarcasm is only surpassed by pastry pauls downright rambuncious smack-downs and ergo, pales into insignificance as a result.
We should have a sarcasm contest.... I know who my moneys going on :thumbsup:

Just claim you were fixing a flat tyre..

Def fit a new sensor as a first item. If it doesn't work then change the rear.

Tight-arse McChris van D does not want to spend the tenner on the sensor, he would rather separate the two wires from the sensor and re-fill the metal block with a bit of glue to separate them again :evil:

So after checking all of the sensor connectors for continuity, turns out it was the right rear sensor connector.
One of the pins in the car-side receiver plug was a bit bent so it must have been causing a bad connection. Amber brakepad light now gone. Sorted.

I'm happy to be classed as a tight-fisted miser sometimes - especially if there's a job you think you can easily do yourself! :)

Now explain how that could have happened as the rear pads were replaced a long time ago and the lights only came on after the front pads replacement???

Coincidence maybe? Dodgy connection obviously. Bent the pin back, sprayed with a bit of contact spray, lights out. Jobe done. :)
I was convinced it was the front sensor so checked that one first. Couldnt find/see a problem and the light stayed on so checked the back to start cancelling out possibilities.
Bit of a faff and 2 hours of my precious time, kof. But all sorted and no money spent :thumbsup:
