Warning Light - Fog Light?

I have had the a warning light start to come up, cant see online what exactly it is, its the 2nd light on the 3rd row here, http://cdn7.staztic.com/app/a/575/575542/bmw-indicator-warning-lamps-692546-3-s-307x512.jpg I assume its replace the rear fog lamps? Anyone done it before, relatively easy job?b

Mine did it once but hasn’t since..... put it down to the fact that my battery is slowly dying......

Yep, only started doing it in the last week, I had used my rear fogs during the recent foggy weather and its been there every since, very annoying.

Its probably telling you that you have a bulb out.

Use the old fashion method...switch it on and have a visual look.
Surely that is the first thing anyone would do.
The bulb fitment is rubbish design, wedge bulb, might just be lose intermittent contact.

Personally, I would like to see the use of rear fogs taken away from the driver. There are to many knob heads that leave the bloody things on when you follow them or turn them on for the slightest bit of mist.

Yes, I normally give either offenders a good dose of full beam.
Why does a driver who has a vehicle following them, feel they need to put the stupid things on..like I can't fooking see you, you pr1ck :evil:

I’ve never used front fog lights - they seem to make visibility no better whatsoever .

Someone could correct me if I am wrong here but I always thought if using front fog lights it was better to have the main lights off as all they do is bounce back directly in your line of sight, where fog lights being lower dont blind you as much as main beams.

That’s what I understand as well - it never seems to help tho.

If you are driving at night, you have a legal requirement to have the headlights on. I don’t think the fog lights fulfil this requirement.

Front fog lights are there for you to see the edges of the road better in extreme fog in the dark (they are pointless in the daytime), subsequently you'll be driving slowly anyway so you use the lights to keep you on track. They are not there so you can drive at normal speed and see ahead of you :roll:
We (e89 Z4's) don't have them as (apparently!) our headlights are low enough to cut through the fog! Just not all fog.
You SHOULD drive with your dipped beam on in fog, if it's bouncing back then slow down more, simple. If you drive in fog, in the daytime, with side lights only then you're an idiot! and a danger to all other road users. Lights, in daytime fog, are not so YOU can see where you're going they are there so others can see you!
If properly adjusted front fogs should not blind oncoming traffic as they spread the pattern sideways anyway.
It's not rocket science, it's relatively basic and obvious if you just think about it.

I don’t think they meant lights off & only fog lights on, I read it to mean lights on (and fogs) but high beams off to avoid the light being reflected off the fog.

I dont think you can just have fog lights on anyway, lights of some sort must be on before fog lights come on.
