Warning alarm when slowing down or stopping at junctions

Hi

New to the forum and had a look round but cannot see any stickies on the above topic so apologies if this has already been answered previously.

We got our Z4 a few weeks ago and today is the first time we have had the opportunity to take it a reasonable run. We had been on the motorway for best part of an hour and when we left at our junction and slowed down at the roundabout we got a continuous warning noise like the front parking sensor was staying on. It stopped after we had been driving again for 15/20 seconds but has continued to do this now every time we slow down or stop at a roundabout or junction. Initially we thought it was the parking sensor picking up the cars in front of us but it also did this when there nothing was in front of us.There is also no warning lights on the dash when this is happening, it is very annoying :headbang: . We have not knowingly changed any settings in the car. Oh and just for info it had been raining very heavily the whole time we had been driving (this may or not be of any relevance but telling you all the facts)

I could just be being dumb but can't figure out what is wrong with it. Is anybody able to shed any light on this?

Many Thanks

Pam

Hi and welcome,

Sorry to hear of this - sounds strange... :?

I'm guessing you don't have iDrive, as it tends to display more meaningful messages. Can you scroll the wheel on the indicator stalk to go into CHECK CONTROL and see if anything is reported there?

Hi

No it does not have I-drive unfortunately and it's not showing anything in check control either! Once we start driving again it stops making the noise until next time we slow down or stop at a junction. It was very annoying!

I read the manuals as we drove back and can't see anything in any of the settings I could possibly have changed.

Don't have an e89, but when I got my e85 the speed 'limiter' warning was set at 6mph - annoyingly, every time I slowed down at lights or sped up afterwards it made a noise at me until I figured out what the hell the noise and flashing '6' meant... Just a thought, could be complete bollocks

Do you have any 'Check Control' alerts? These can be viewed in the instrument cluster. You need to push a switch located on the indicator stalk. Keep pushing (up or down) until 'Check Control' comes up then press the button on the end of the stalk.

Hello and welcome! This might be what it is. You can set it to sound an alarm at a certain speed. Have a look in your book. (Would check myself but my book is in the car!)

I saw it on my idrive, there's an option to turn it on or off so yours might be switched on.

but if it doesn't have idrive?

hope it's not an electrical fault with water getting somewhere & splashing forwards when u brake

call to the dealer in the morning maybe to ask if it's possible it's a 'function' rather than a 'fault'? good luck

Mine does this! its the car telling you the temp outside is below 3c, mine does this when slowing down in cold weather!

The parking sensors only work at low speeds - if you have them on and drive away they switch off after reaching a certain speed. It does sound as though they are coming on when they shouldn't?

If you have front sensors then you will have the switch on the dash - is this lit up green to show that they are on when you are getting the warning sound?
