Hi,

I'm looking for the "warning" there was on the frontpage for some months ago.
I just cant find the topic!! Anyone? :)

Somthing about rust etc.

I'm about to buy the set from Bimecc (2x15 mm + 2x20mm). Any thoughts of these?

Was prob my post. Check topics started by me.

Bimecc are good spacers, I have them fitted on the front.
I think the warning was about a set of spacers made by an old forum member called Mark if I remember correctly.

You have to be very carful if you go smaller then 15mm due to the spigot on the hub and the wall thickness of the spacer. It is possible for 12mm spacers without grinding the the hub spigot but its a different design.

If they are bare aluminium they will oxidise quickly over winter. So if you can afford anodised ones that's the way to go. If not a quick paint but keep the paint even. And remove any rust off the hubs with a wire brush

I found it!

Thanks for hints!
Keep'em coming!

Just minuts from pressing the buttons for Bimecc incl McGard.......... :!:

Atpdk is that price for all 4? Where did u get them from?

Machine monkey is it possible for spacers to grind your center hub on your alloy wheels?

Oh no, it was 180£ all in all. 50 of them is for posting to Denmark.. :(

That's the set i bought! Incl. McGard bolts. Like the idea of not to mount the wheel in the (soft alu) spacer - also in the 20 mm's!

Pity the post was so expensive. Posting prices have certainly taken a price increase recently. :o

I was just looking into getting eibach spacers, 15mm for front 25mm for rear. Has there been any negative feed back towards eibach? Do they come with the correct bolts needed or am I looking at sourcing those else where?

Eibach is generally pretty good kit (Probably always actually). Shouldn't be a problem other than the price.

Ok, these are the people I bought mine from, very well priced and great to get the complete set from one place. Spacers - fine ; machined bolts - fine ; MacGuard locking bolts - not fine, about 4mm shorter than the bolts, only held by about 3 threads when fitted. I didn't change them because I didn't realise how much shorter they were until I changed onto winter wheels 4 months later... by which time it was really too late to complain. When I changed back to summers I ended up rounding one in the hub and nearly needed a whole new rear hub... Which would have cost me £300+ to fix. Actually the only thing that saved me was the fact it was so short - my Indy managed to re-tap the thread. So now I have no locking nuts on the rear, and will be changing the fronts off ASAP.

Long and short - they have to machine the MacGuard bolts to fit, so just make sure they have machined them to the right length. I think the thread on both bolts and locking bolts should be 40/41mm for the 15mm spacers, and 45/46mm for the 20mm spacers (working off an OEM thread length of 26mm).

That's not good news Bing.
I didn't have a problem with mine being too short ..............they were a little long which was easily sorted by my bench grinder.
You have raised an important point about the shoulder shape an length of after market studs............. Buyer beware when you mod! Check you have enough threads in the hub.

Well, it all worked out so I am wiser and only £50 lighter instead of £300

So to be clear for future generations, the taper (of the shoulder ?) on BMW bolts is 60 degrees, the bolts are M12x1.5, and the standard thread length is 26mm. When adding spacers the thread length needs to be 26mm + spacer width.

Of course if I have that all wrong then I have learned nothing

Indispensable knowledge!!
I actually bought them because of you - in the 11 page spacer-topic, where you have upladed a pic of yours.
Belive me - I will measure them carefully! Thanks for the tip..

But except the McGard's, you are satisfied by yours? How is the condition of the metal after 1-2 years? :)

ATPDK, it's been almost a year - they are still in good condition, despite never having been taken off and specifically cleaned. And yes, very pleased still :D
