Wantyed: Wheel Spacer recommendation for 2006 3.0si

I got my Z4 back from the garage today.
Its had eibach pro lowering springs fitted all round, new front wishbones with Meyle bushes, rear bushes replaced (Meyle also), new drop link roll bars and 4 x Eagle F1 tyres fitted ) Rears are 255/35/18 XL on 224 M sport wheels

Problem is that it looks like the rear wheels are being devoured by the arches now, made worse cos the F1's have a rim protector which creates the illusion of a slightly smaller wheel i reckon:( and I don't like the look of it at all.

Can anyone recommend a wheel spacer so my rears can look the business again?

Weird - you should not need spacers with 224s on the rear, and maybe - if you're really picky - just 5mm spacers up front. Mine is on Eibachs with 224s and the rears couldn't take a spacer of any size :

Bing, many thanks. You are exactly right and I have just come to realise whats actually wrong. The dummy at the garage has put the rear wheels on the front (with the 225 profile tyre) and the front wheels on the rear (with the 255 profile tyre).

Can't actually believe it.

I'll upload the pics a little later, got a long trip to Oxford now (but going in the Golf for obvious reasons). Hopefully i'll be back in Notts in time to fix this .

Thanks again for the info, I knew something didn't look right but i just couldn't put my finger on it immediately. And to think, I just nearly spent £100 for wheel spacers.
 
To answer you original question - you need at least 30mm spacers on the rears. :D

Seriously though, hope you get it sorted without too much hassle. Tyres fitted the wrong way is quite common but I think this might be a first!

:lol: can't believe they've done this!

A garage fitted a tyre the wrong way round on mine, but I didn't tell him they were 2 rear wheels as. They weren't on the car when I took them.

Make sure they know that the wheels are 2 different sizes.
 
Ok, here are the photos as promised:

As you can see the front tyre is OUTSIDE the front wheel arch, whilst the Rears have been devoured.

Getting this sorted tomorrow.

But first, I need some advice........When the car was sent to have its tyres changed, it had the wheel alignment / tracking done also because I have just had some Eibach lowering springs and new front wishbones / bushes fitted.
My question is this. Since the tracking / alignment was carried out with the wheels like this, will it need to be re-done when the wheels / tyres are put the right way around?

Wow, that front tyre is really stretched too. How the hell did they not notice ? And did they take the wheels off / put them back on ?

Regarding the alignment, I'm no expert but I'd have thought so. As I've not got spacers on anymore and it's not been done for a while I'm going to get mine done soon I think.

Surely either of them should have noticed - not used to staggered wheels????!!!

Don't think this will influence the alignment, Just hope they know more about alignment then they do about tyre sizes and staggered alloys
 
Christ, those rears are comical!

The fronts look exactly the same as the fronts of mine (225/35/19 on an 8.5'' wide alloy).
 
Seriously wtf. Anyone with half a brain wouldn't make that mistake! You really shouldn't need to tell them. Did the wheels have tyres on when you took them? I mean if you'd just bought them and they had no tyres on I suppose it would be easier to miss.
 
I guess its an easy enough mistake but surely when the tyres were going on they would realised they are bit too stretched on one pair and too wide on the other?

Least they were consistent and fitted both front with the wider alloy narrow tyre combo!

The car was dropped off with the wheels / correct tyres fitted. I.e wider wheels with 255's on the rear, front's with the 225. I dropped off 4 new tyres as the current ones had minimal tread left. I asked them to fit them but it seems they had a bit of a mix up....... In fact a COMPLETE mix up.
