Wanted: ZHP 6 speed gear knob.

I was shocked at having to spend over 60 quid on the non illuminated one. Iirc the illuminated one is over double the price!!! f**k that, I'd rather make do with not looking at the shift pattern, which I know of all the gear positions anyway ;)
 
Comes with a new gaiter though hence the price. It's a pretty sweet, and not too common mod. £113 from Harry Fairburn is what I paid.

So it looks good at night? Is it easy to wire up?
 
Looks perfect at night as it's OE. For wiring I tapped into the ashtray light feed.
The gaiter isn't for the Z4 so you do have to butcher off the old one and trim and glue the new one. Managed it in an afternoon.
 
When I phoned the dealer and asked for an F10 zhp he said it wasn't illuminated. Does anyone have the part number for the illuminated one?

Could well have been because not for zeds!
 
Thanks Steve. I will give the dealer a phone tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what they say regarding there not being an illuminated f10 knob despite me telling them I had seen a picture of one!
 
Soper was the best price at £120 ish. Ordered and will be in the post this afternoon along with a side light (angel eye) bulb. I got a arming light this morning.

On this I take it it is changed using the panel in the wheel arch?

Arrived today which is almost unheard of delivery time to here. Part number was correct and it looks great.

Won't get to fit until next week at least as Santa shopping this weekend in Glasgow.

Looking forward to doing it.
 
Fitted now and very happy with it. Feels good in the hand and the gearshift feels much more bolt action now that any flex in the original knob has gone and is weightier.



 
Fitting was okay. Just take your time is the secret and remember to push the plastic frame as far up the gaitor as possible to get rid of as much extra material as possible. Especially at the front. Then had to cut along the seam line (webbed back so won't continue to run) to fit this thicker part around the frame.

It does sit a little higher at the front than before because of this seam but looks good. It is very easy to remove though so you could keep adjusting if you weren't happy.
