Wanted Z4M Roadster

I've decided to try for a third time to buy a Z4M Roadster, the other occasions have always resulted in me buying E46 M3s and on one occasion an E92 V8, my feelings are that most of the cars owned by you guys will be better & probably more expensive than I'm really looking for but it's worth an ask.

Probably like me you watch the "market" so I would be interested to hear any feedback on cars for sale at around the £10K mark, any ex forum cars you may see or know of, with Winter on it's way I'm hoping for a deal.

If you are thinking of selling in the next couple of months let me know, I don't expect perfection at this price so don't be shy and send me a message

Think this is a forum car https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=108331 or at least is the m8 of a forum member

Thanks I've had lengthy conversations with the owner Matt but we can't see eye to eye on price

I'm still in the market if anyone has got itchy feet before the winter

£10k ZMs pass by like the clocks changing & when they do generally need money spending or for obvious reasons £10k is more than they have been offered as trade .
You know the ropes well enough , these cars swallow £2k-£3k in no time at all to bring up to a decent mechanical & physical condition .
Not trying to tell anyone how to suck a egg but right now if £10k is a tight budget i would look at other cars

Not so much a tight budget Mr Wilks, I just don't want to sink anymore into one !

Like yourself I change my cars on a regular basis and get bored quickly, pristine garage queens are no good to me because it puts me off using and abusing them.

I would probably also prefer to buy a cheaper one and sink a couple of grand into ensuring it's mechanically spot on, that way I know whats really been done rather than just seeing a load of stamps in a book lol

Yep i totally get the mindset but right now if someone did offer up a £10k ZM you would have to wonder when the sucker punch was coming :?

I totally agree that it's a risk........on the other hand I see Autotrader & Ebay with several cars around the £11-£12K mark that have been for sale for anywhere up to twelve months !!

I don't believe that they are all bad cars, merely that buyers are few and far between, in addition most enthusiasts want the best condition lowest mileage example and would prefer to pay over the odds for the privilege.

I'm working on the basis that not all the sellers will want to wait until next spring for a sale.......hopefully lol :D

Agree you'll get a potential bag of spanners for 10k with well over 100k miles

I do accept that everything you guys are saying has merit, however I'm a veteran of the M3 world and have previously found the E46M3 to be predominantly very reliable, I owned one with 150K miles and it was as tight as a drum.

Maybe I've just been lucky but after 4 E46s & an E92 V8 I've had very few problems with any of them.

I'm also capable and enjoy doing my own repairs which helps, wouldn't attempt rod bearings though

You got me now :P hands in the air :D these £11k /£12k cars that have been up for 12 months that you believe aren't all bad :? why not buy one of those :?

Predominantly because they are nearly all for sale with "small pitch" used car dealers and I can't be arsed to go and listen to their bullshit, I would much prefer to buy from the actual owner if possible.

I believe one of the cars for sale at £11.5K is an ex forum car, been for sale forever but the guy still sticking to his price........been discussed on here several times

If i was looking to buy in at bottom dollar with least miles on clock that Inty blue Mroady with Gruppe would be on my drive already ( i did offer the seller more in January than its up at now  he refused )
id go there with the cash & not leave until deal was done as to my mind the Gruppe is £500 min , the wheels are a easy change , the mudflaps come off & OK some guy viewed & nitpicked it but lets be realistic , whoever goes looking at bottom book cars expecting a garage queen minter that needs nothing doing are being penny wise & pound foolish

I do agree with your last sentence without a shadow of doubt.

Did you view the car Mr Wilks or know of it previously, any realistic chance of getting some off the current asking price ?

I sincerely doubt it , the seller seems pigheaded going off my own conversations .
A forum chum viewed it simply to suss out the seller with the intention of offering £500 for the Gruppe in exchange for Oe air intake .
He refused to even consider it .
You wouldn't want to sell the intake anyway , not until ready to part with the car but its £500 however way you look .

Did it previously belong to a forum member ?

It's a shame about the wheels & mudflaps but an easy fix as you correctly say

Yes "monksdill" i believe :? whatever criticisms the car has had through the M market watch i'm pretty sure the car was kept as the majority of forum members would want from service perspective .

Thanks I'm going to pursue it a little further, emailed the dealer with a "very polite" question or two so we will see what happens
