I am looking for a Z4 without an engine or with a broken engine. It has to be in good condition and have a working manual transmission.

Do you work for a film studio... Think u have us all intrigued why u want one like this, please do tell

hello and welcome

as others have said, interested to know why you want a z4 without and engine

Welcome to the fourm.

Perhaps a few enquiries at breakers yards will get you a car without an engine. I would say it's unlikely (although entirely possible) that a forum member will have an engine-less zed for sale.

Whatever happens, sounds like an interesting project, and one that you should keep us updated with

I may be hesitant to tell you guys I am trying to build an electric powered zed :P Right now I'm working on a porsche boxster..

Interesting idea. Sort of Tesla I guess.

I cannot however imagine ever finding a Zed without engine. They are only scrapped for crash damage, or if the engine breaks (which they never really do) then a replacement would be found before sale, else it's worthless.

Good luck and would love to see how this project comes along.

Interesting idea indeed. Any details on the electric porsche?

An electric zed? Please tell us more?

On a side note, would you not be better buying a zed with an engine, then selling the engine separately? Did you find a Boxster with no engine?

Are electric cars not as environmentally friendly as we are led to believe?

There is some very nasty chemicals in the batteries and unless you are using electricity from a renewable source there will still be carbon emissions produced.

Great idea for a project though best of luck with it mate!

Given how cheap zeds are at the moment and how much you can get back for a good engine, you would be better buying a good running car you can shake down and selling the motor to recoup some costs.

I have looked at several zeds in breakers for a customer looking at a V8 swap and the engines seldom break and the crashed cars are way too expensive when you factor in a repair cost.

Buy something highish mileage for £5k ish and you will be laughing - I assume you will have to swap suspension anyway to deal with new weight of battery packs etc??

When you have a spare engine, give me a shout!

Does this mean you'll be replacing every panel with hundreds of small solar cells?
