Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forums and i'm potentially looking for a 2.5 or 3.0 Z4 roadster. Ideally, I'm looking for the following:

Roadster 2.5 or 3.0, not really interested in the 2.0 or 2.2
05 plate onwards
Up to 70,000 miles(ish)
Don't mind on the colour although silver, dark grey or black would be preferred.
Leather preferred but cloth would be considered if the right car came up
Heated seats
Must have full service history

That's pretty much it I think, looking to spend around 6k, could give or take a bit if a good car came up though

I've been looking on Pistonheads, Autotrader, ebay, Gumtree etc but nothing's really appealed that much to be honest and i'd rather buy one that I know has been looked after by an enthusiast.

Thanks

Luke

I don't think you'll find a 2.5i or 3.0i with cloth seats, although I could be wrong. Don't get too hung up on year. I can tell you with certainty that, condition wise, there are enthusiast owned 03 cars out there that would embarrass much newer cars. With a £6k budget, buy on condition and history.

Good luck with your search.

Ah, wasn't sure on the cloth/leather options on the 2.5 and 3.0 but i'll have a look. I know what you mean about the year but it's just i'm always conscious of the possibility of age related things going wrong. Going from a 54 plate Mini Cooper S I'd prefer something newer if possible. Thanks for your advice though, i'd certainly consider a decent 53 plate car if one came up. I'm quite near you too coincidentally, just down the road in Lincoln! :driving:

Hi Elshaw
Check out mine. Had it for sale end of last year then decide to keep through winter. Looking to sell again in the spring, but can be persuaded to sell earlier. Only done about 1000 miles in winter so now around 55k.

Send me a PM if interested.

I can see why psychologically you'd want a newer car than your Mini. I stand by my comments though!

If you fancy a good look around a decent 3.0i SE as a reference point, I'd be happy to show you mine sometime seeing as you're just down the road.

Cheers Bradders, appreciate it. Give me a PM or something if you're ever around in Lincoln, would be good to see a good example

Well the current Mini's now up for sale and after looking at Andy B's showroom quality model earlier (apb151 - thanks again for the pointers Andy, if you see this!), i'm now even more keen to get my hands on a 3.0 Z4.

I have a keen eye out on these forums, Pistonheads, Autotrader and ebay but nothing's really come up yet. I know it's only been a few days since my original post but is anyone even thinking about looking to sell at some point in the near future?

Cheers

Luke

It's now been a couple of weeks since I started looking properly and still not really found anything decent. Anyone looking to sell in the near future at all? I'd prefer a 3.0 but would definitely consider a decent 2.5

Cheers
Luke

Hi Coaldust,

It's on the higher end of my mileage requirements and if i'm honest, your traffic light grand prix posts don't fill me with confidence. I realise most Z4s will have been driven hard but it doesn't come across very well on public forums. Good luck with the sale though, i'm sure you'll easily sell it now the sun's starting to come out

well you cant judge a car without viewing it in person, in the 4000 miles ive done i never took it past 3k till fully warmed up etc, but i get your point, i know the first GENUINE person that wants a 3.0 z will take it.

ill probably stick it on ebay in the next few days, But as you say with summer looming in, i can see myself sticking a new policy on it and using through summer the way its going atm, i know i could lower the price and sell it much quicker but its just to much of a nice example to sell for silly money.

Good luck with your search

oh one more thing, regarding my post history of a few blasts in mine, whatever z you buy is gonna be a used car, which could have had the nuts ragged off it without even being warmed up etc, the owner before me had it for years, out of interest i googled the address on streetview and it was a mansion in the country side with a garage, so i know it came from wealth thus the reason the hood is like new etc, and its been cared for.

infact the odds are you will buy a z not as good as mine because you judge my post history, and maybe want one cheaper. but each to there own.

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with your car Mr Coaldust. However, it's a bit like meeting a new lady friend. You know it's likely that hers is a field that has been ploughed many times before but what you don't know, won't hurt you. In this case, elshaw has found out that one potential new squeeze has been spit-roasted on the internet.

 Couldn't have said it better myself Bradders!

Thanks for the link Superopera, and i'm sure it's very nice but I think the trip getting it back would be a tad too expensive!

Hi Elshaw,

I am considering selling mine. I looked for months for a good one, found it, bought it, but cannot now sell my TT and am getting hassle at home about all the cars on the drive / in the garage.

The only thing that will put you off is the mileage 86K. However, the car is in excellent condition, has FBMWSH, including inspection II just 4k miles ago. I have just replaced the coolant header tank (a common problem) and installed a new battery. The car is a 2.5si manual with full M sport seats, suspension, wheels and the sport button to improve throttle response etc. The car is metallic black with full black heated leather seats. It also has the auto lights, rear park distance control and steering wheel audio buttons. Other details; 07 plate, 12 months MOT, currently SORN'ed but will get 6 months tax. I will be looking for around £6,995 which will make it the cheapest Z4 2.5si in the country, but I need to sell it.

Interested ?

Hi jnwright,

Sounds like a great example but the mileage is too high i'm afraid. I'm going to be putting probably 20-25k on over the next couple of years and I could do with one with lower mileage to be honest. Thanks anyway though and good luck with the sale

what in the 4000 miles i covered i opened it up a bit, no? im sure any performance car be it a "wrx, astra vxr, m5 bmw" have never been given any stick no?

one granny owner ill put in my next add. just used to go tesco and back.

least im an honest seller, let the other guy carry on viewing s**t, no loss to me.

Coaldust, you're doing yourself no favours. If you read my original post I said I'm looking to spend around 6.5k and I don't want to buy one that's been ragged within an inch of its life...which to be honest, is what put me off yours. If this is how you behave BEFORE selling the car I definitely wouldn't want to be dealing with you when it means spunking thousands on a car that's regularly raced. Again, good luck with the sale.
