Not a standard one, something a bit interesting.

Ideally I want something that isn't too loud but adds a bit of a sporty growl when I put my foot down. Does such a thing exist without breaking the bank?

if you find one I was after the same thing no one seems to do a reasonable price sports euxhaust

Try Here....

i have the miltek full system and it growls like F*ck

now the New Z4 is out, bet you can strike a deal if he has stock!

If its just noise your after you only have to change the backbox. Plenty of places will make up a custom unit for 300 quid.

Yeah to be honest I am only really after a bit of noise so the backbox is an option.

I got a quote from Longlife, they said something like £250 for a custom backbox and i got an email saying they could do me an even better deal. Do you want me to phone them tomorrow and see how having 2 done changes that?

i would beware of made up back boxes you have no idea how they will turn out at different speeds droning/booming etc, safer to go for remus or milltek, you get what you pay for!

milltek reasonable price £880 to £1399 they wont catch me with prices like that thats a rip off I have had contact with a few lads on piston heads who have cat back custom jobs done with Pro-Speed Exhausts they have built them for tvr Jags lotus etc and they sound like they know there stuff and dont charge mental money, milltek are the only company I can find doing a off the shelf job and thats why they think you will be to lazy to look any futher and charge you for the convenence have a look on Pro-Speed Exhausts web site top draw service

see what they will do a cat back for my 3.0se but I think Pro-Speed Exhausts will be a better option for me £450 for a ss custom cat back fitted dont have to get my hands dirty

When I can get a spare 3.0i backbox for reasonable money, I'll be modding my stock backbox (spare just so when I sell I can revert it if needed) to try get a good noise.

In theory you could mod a stock back box for the cost of a bit of grinding and welding, and drilling, and get some nice noises and flow de-restrictions. All this stainless stuff is just good business, it's not essential, I guess the main reason new units are built is so that cars can be reverted easily (put original back on)

Anyway, just wanted to let people know that I'll be trying this and will post audio of my before/after results (at same levels) so you can get a good idea of the difference (something no one selling exhausts does, STILL, fecking lamers!)

Just as info, I built my last exhaust for my last car from OE boxes from old cars for the time taken to weld it together, and now have many other owners doing the same thing. Fantastic results, lovely noise, cheap, light. Why pay for expensive stainless stuff that isn't tested or sold well?

Whippy, very interested to hear how that goes for you!

Phill, would be very interested for you to get a price for my 2.5i on a backbox only, if they can do us both a discount for buying together I would be very interested. As long as it makes economic sense for me to drive all the way down there to have it done.

Cheers

Dear Alex,

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

We can certainly build a Stainless Steel Exhaust for your 2004 BMW Z4 2.5 SE.

All our systems are tailor-made using stainless steel (T304) and come with a no hassle, fully transferable LIFETIME GUARANTEE so it is literally fit and forget.

Our free-flow systems are designed for efficiency, which can give increased power and improved MPG. Usually the most noticeable improvement is in low down torque giving better acceleration.

Every full system comes with a choice of our standard tailpipes, and we have an extensive range of tailpipe upgrade options, so you can choose the finish that's exactly right for you and your car. Plus, because our systems are custom built, you are able to tell us how you would like the car to sound, anywhere from Quiet to Full Sport. The most popular choice is Mild Sport, which gives a slight note when you accelerate, but without being intrusive.

To design, manufacture and install a better sounding Longlife Stainless steel system from the CAT back on your vehicle would cost £549 (including fitting and VAT).

We can also manufacture just the back box only to improve the sound of your car for £229 (including fitting and VAT).

Hand-building and fitting your custom made system takes approximately 3 hours, by appointment at your local centre near Chester

We also offer a wide range of other products and services such as MOT, Servicing, Alloy Wheels, Tyres; we can also offer a very competitive finance package so your payments could be spread over 12 months.

When you arrive and before work commences, we will agree and confirm the final details of the system design. After work is completed, every exhaust undergoes a thorough twelve point quality check, to ensure complete reliability and performance.

Please call me free on 0800 043 1164, or on 0151 348 8945 to book an appointment or discuss your requirements further.

I look forward very much to hearing from you soon.

Regards

Andy Griffith
