Wanted: Z4 E85 2.5si, 3.0i or 3.0si Auto

Hi everyone

I have just posted my first post on this forum in the new members section, and the reason for joining the forum is I soon hope to be a Z4 owner. I am looking for a six cylinder model with automatic gearbox preferably black or silver, and as many options as possible.I live in Essex and am happy to travel a reasonable distance for the right vehicle, condition and spec are the most important criteria.

I have a budget of around £6000: This is a little bit flexible for the right vehicle. I would prefer to have a facelift model purely because I much prefer the styling and the 6 speed auto, but a decent pre-facelift in good spec/condition will also do if it has the 3.0 engine.

If you know of anything please pass it on.

Tough search. Nothing really coming up, I went to see another car today in Bas Vegas which was ok but needed too much work and the seller wouldn't budge on his price (which was very strong).

Looks like the choice of Auto gearbox is proving the issue at the moment.
 
They are pretty rare, just be patient is my advice as its a great box and worth the wait. I had a 3.0Si, loved it. Whilst it's a buyer's market right now many people tuck them up until spring and sell then. However if you keep looking you'll find one, they're out there :thumbsup:
 
The pre-facelift 3.0 5 speed auto is also very good. First auto I've owned but I am a convert! Makes for effortless driving in traffic and fast launches when needed without any potential for fluffed gear changes. Also makes cruise control work properly as it can shift gears when necessary.

If your budget will bag the later 3.0si in auto guise then go for it as you will get the 6 speed plus the paddles on the steering wheel (though these can be retrofitted to a pre-facelift). Personally I never use the steptronic mode to shift manually anyway as I am happy with the kick down in full auto mode. :driving:

Thanks, I'm actually going to see an 04 3.0i Auto on Friday so fingers crossed it works out. It's the best lead I've had so far. It will be the fifth one I've looked at...

I test drove one for the first time last weekend and was impressed with the performance, plenty quick enough for me.
 
New Z4 purchased. Black 2004 model with factory original M-Sport seats in Dream Red, Style 108s and a few other goodies. Lovely. I'll sort out some pictures in due course, but loved the drive home today, all the way from Bognor Regis back to Essex. :driving: :D
