WANTED: Z4 Coupe - Stratus/Silver Grey

Hi Everyone,

New to the forums but have wanted a Z4 coupe since 2006. Pesky children and a stubborn wife have prevented my selfish ways so I've had to endure a waltons wagon (S-Max) and Focus ST (to keep me smiling). However, I've just discovered it only takes a combination of major throat surgery and telling the wife the new job means she doesn't have to work again to persuade her to let me have a 2 seater again! ... I'm funding it from the trade-in value of my 3x sprogs :D

I'm looking for the following:

Stratus / Silver Grey (love black but imagine its a pain to clean)
Sports Pack
Comfort Pack
Amarone/Dream Red /Black but I'll consider all trims as the stratus is quite rare :)
Piano trim preferred but again I'm flexible
Full History
Flexible on the mileage as long as its been loved and priced to reflect
My preferred budget is anything from 10-13k (16k max)

Basically I love the one that peppermint sold last year to mj2k, who just so happens to be selling it right now and got a deposit for it but I'm still recovering and can't drive for another week.. grrrr :D http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=26309

Cheers people!

Jim

Welcome to the search!

I'm currently in the same boat as you, I'm looking for a sport coupe in either silver grey, stratus grey or most of all if I can find a good one, carbon black.

The past couple of weeks I've seen some good ones come and go, right now in the private market it's a little mixed, not so many Montego Blue ones around recently thankfully but reasonably priced coupes are a little thin on the ground, a good handful which have come up for sale this week are rather overpriced, and some are just ridiculous, There's an 06 Stratus grey coupe for sale for £14k and a black 06 coupe on Autotrader for £15k... wtf?

Good luck with the search!

Thanks guys!

only 145 people with excellent rather than just good taste huh? :tumbleweed: :D .. in all honesty, the car looks excellent in every colour

Cibbers, know exactly what you mean mate, alot of private Autotrader inflated prices appear to be based on what they think its worth, rather than actual. Looks like there's been some great cars sold on here for the right price and not surprisingly sold quickly.. Does anyone have a suspicion though that some are dealers, drooling over the margin they are going to make once they wrap the car in a false sense of dealer safety? I guess, as long as the seller is happy with the buy price then its irrelevant.

Anyway.. happy hunting! I'm jealous of ever z4 owner that has already gone through this patient process and found the right one!

Here's a stratus / dream red on autotrader I would of purchased in a heartbeat but it had AUTO with paddleshift :(

Would prefer the manual, never had an auto.. any thoughts on the auto WITH paddleshift?

Yep been oogling that one for a while, it seems we have similar tastes as the only thing that puts me off it is the Auto box too...

have you tried the autobox? you may be suprised how good it is

Not on the Z4, I have to admit I'm basing it on other non-bmw auto's I've tested in the past (bloody terrible) and a mix of opinions on the z4 manual vs auto/paddle discussions.

Sounds like I'm going to have to test drive one before discounting it. I'm one of those "got to have manual" for a sports car people as I like changing gears lol

Hey Taz, Just drove a space grey 09 paddle shift and I'm very impressed tbh!

I walked away thinking I definitely shouldn't discount an auto with paddles.. until I got back in my Focus ST and found myself more involved driving back home changing gears :headbang:

But one things for sure, the enclosed cabin and seating position on the coupe is excellent and I'm definately getting one now, my wife was surprised I came back in the same car :D

Found a great 1 owner, 09, 34k miles, space grey, full spec, sport at bmw snows portsmouth, but its £16k and they wouldnt budge at all on the price! I can get a bloody M for that and walked away :(

Hey Everyone,

I found this one and wanted peoples opinion on condition/price. A little suspicious with the 15k mileage for a 2006 with what may look like the usual leather wear on the drivers side from getting in/out. I figured that might indicate a 30k+? Really Hard to tell with the small photo so could just be the light.

Thanks!
