The E89 wasn't as much of a success though to be fair Mr Wilks, I'd still take an E86 Coupe over that.

E86 will go down as a classic eventually not sure the E89 will

Gotta agree mate , you know i'm a massive E86 fan but when prices fudge between the generations many will see the newer car as a better buy

When I was looking to buy my Coupe, I felt the E86 shape looked that little bit more special, maybe its the sharper/ boxy edges of the first gen Z4?

The 86s will always be special & i'm not trying to fan flames of arguement but reality has to prevail at some point & buyers appear thin on the ground right now for 7,8,9 yr old impractical sports cars

Well you've had nearly all versions Mr Wilks so have some experience to draw upon!

I've only had E86s, but really don't fancy any other Z4! I've never liked Roadsters and the E89 is neither one nor the other, plus it is a bit lardy! If I did get persuaded to try an E89 a 23i just wouldn't do it for me (my daily is a 325ti  ) but a 30i might, a manual 35i definitely might.

Maybe that is why E89s are falling into that price bracket?

Also looking to sell my Z4 Coupé due to a baby on the way: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=100046

Will be posting some shots up on the weekend. Is in fabulous condition, one of the best colour combos with pretty much every factory option, mod free and has been owned by a previous forum member (goughy1) so it's been looked after well. Currently on 108's but they have just been refurbished.

Josh

Thanks josh. Im looking at a car this weekend which could fit the bill but Ill bear yours in mind if it doesn't

How very dare you John :o I will have you know I always do my own dirty work :poke:

Ive started looking at buying a coupe and have to agree with mr wilks that you have to REALLY want a coupe rather than a later E89 convertible which are now under £9K for a 2009/10.
Ive started to think that the E89 is a much more modern looking car with the versatility of being a convertible or closed car.

I've just looked on wilkepedia & both the e86 coupe & the e89 20i are listed at 1395kg, be careful who you're calling lardy, fatso
