Hello everyone,

I'm currently on the hunt for a manual Z4 3.0i. Whether I buy outside of the forums or in the forums, I'd still like to be part of this community!

My current search criteria is -

- Manual 3.0i
- Heated leather seats
- Around 100k miles preferably.
- Any of your standard colours really, with black being my favourite.
- Age wise I'm not fused, but obviously newer the better.
- Been well looked after.
- Budget is circa £5500.

I'm based in Bristol. I'm willing to travel up to around 90mins or so. But for the perfect car I'll go further!

Any advice is welcomed!

Many thanks :D
Ed

Healthy budget for a 3.0Se
Welcome to the forum

Would be very open to an SE! Only reason I didn't mention it was because on AT etc. they seem to be more around £7K!

Just to clarify & make your search that bit easier the 3.0Se ran 03 until 2006 at 230bhp & usually sells between £3500 / £5500
The facelifted 3.0Si from 2006 is a different engine & has 265bhp with different rear lights & front bumper / fogs ( also loses the orange indicators )
The Si can be found from £6k upwards but the cheaper ones would generally have some issues to sort out
Expect to pay around £7500 for a well sorted 80k Si roadster for the next 4-6 months

In between all that are a mix of 2.5is which vary wildly in BHP so watch carefully for the actual model if you do get tempted by one of those

Ah gotcha - I thought by SE you meant the SI!!! Thanks for the clarification!

Sorry you haven't found one yet OP, but this ought to be a good time of year to be looking!

Good luck.

Still searching....

After 10 days, then perhaps not looking very hard.
What have you seen, tested? What is wrong with what you see? Price, spec. service, condition, distance, etc.

I look on here, AT and eBay everyday. I've only looked at one car. It fit the bill perfectly however it was advertised with FSH, but when I got there, they had nothing. So I left it.

Apart from that there is nothing really worth looking at within a 2 hour drive from me that fits what I'm looking for. Whether it's because I'm not a fan of the colour, or maybe it's missing an option that I'd like, or whether it's stupidly overpriced!

As I mentioned, I'm in no huge rush! But it's good to let people know you're still searching rather than just letting the thread die, right? :D

OK - so you're actively looking and in no rush. No issue in bumping the thread, but as above post the issues you experience.

You are however in a trap we often see. The Z4 is not that common and you've set a series of criteria that make it harder. Distance, price, service history, mileage, age, etc. and thus you eliminate all of the cars.

I suggest you look at which criteria is important to you and compromise on something. I'd forget the service history and buy on condition as they are old cars and you can have full history, but it may not be in good condition or loved

This is the cheapest time of year so if you don't find one in the next 3 months expect prices to rise as buyer competition increases.

Ok thanks for the advice!

I agree re: service history. It was more the fact it was advertised with it, when in fact there wasn't any!!

Life is a compromise......just don't compromise on heated seats!

Haha! Well it was either compromise on heated seats or go for higher mileage. The thought of a cold rear this time of year has made me decide on the latter.

Hi Ed,

I've finally bitten the bullet and listed mine for sale.

Its missing the heated seats but it has unheated sports seats + some upgrades which make it look great.

I'm only a few miles away in Taunton, let me know if you would like to come and have a look.
