WANTED Z4 28i Auto

Hi New to the forum and after a while trying to decide what new toy to get I've now stuck on the idea of a Z4.
I'm looking for a 28i in auto preferably with the satnav/media pack. LCI model so about 2013 onwards.
Also please message me with any advice and watch outs when looking for one of these.

Welcome aboard, from another Martin, with a BMW :D

I'm sure if you've researched through this forum, you will see that it is possible to get a 18i or 20i and remap them to the same (or slightly more) performance than the 28i. So that may widen your options a bit.
Means you could focus on the spec you want and not be restricted by engine spec.

Also the LCI gave precious little in specific changes at that point..

As was posted widening your search to 20i and 28i will improve your search options by a factor of 10..

Add 18i and it goes to a factor of 11..although many 18i were underspecified as it was sold as a budget entry model..

That looks a nice motor.
Only box not ticked is the LCI one. Depends why the OP has stipulated that I guess. If it's as simple as the changed side indicators then they are an easy swap I hear.

Very useful option to have I found previously Enuff...it’s the one thing I really miss with my 09’ car. I’m pretty sure they strengthened the mechanism on them, no issues with it. Having said that I really only used it up to 20mph trundling back through the village near home or leaving........aaaaaaaaaaaand the rain bursts obvs.... :P
 
The roof can be programmed to move at that speed on any E89..

The jury is out on the concept of roof strengthening..there is no documentation to suggest there was any change.

A 4th hydraulic valve was fitted pre LCI to ensure that one certain state of indeterminate roof closure / opening was covered..

Not sure that some shiny plastic around the interior air vents and minor changes to the headlights and taillights would sway me as much as goodies/condition/price/mileage?
 
Wow thanks for all the quick replies! I had wondered about just going for the 20i plus remap so I'm guessing there is plenty on info on this forum regarding remaps, I'll have a dig through!

I was initially on the lookout for a 28i but after realising that I could pick up a 18i Msport then upgrade it and still come in much cheaper than a 28i it was no brainer for me. Definitely plenty going on here regarding mapping N20s. Hope you find a good one 👍

I’ve not tried them (the new ones) but I have to say of the many things that are less than perfect on these cars not once ever did I ever go..‘ that’s really annoying that switch” :rofl:

The electronic waste gate wasn’t tied to the LCI..confusion occurs due to the 18i which DID co-incide with LCI being only fitted with the EWG..

There was a 3 month ish overlap on the 20i and 28i models AFAIK...

The ONE thing I really did like was the LCI side repeaters..of course you can retrofit them for 85 euros.. :thumbsup:

So I would maintain that I’d buy the car on features/condition/price/mileage first then choose LCI as the final parameter..

Of course new cars will be LCI but then again they will be more expensive..
