WANTED: Z4, 2.0i

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum, looking to buy my first ever Z4. Perhaps someone may be able to help.

I know it's tough but my wish list is as follows:
2.0l
FSH (or nearly)
Leather
Ideally blue, dark grey or silver. Not black!
<100k miles or as low as possible
Ideally Hpi clear, no cat C, maybe cat D if there's some proof that it really was just wing mirror vandalism!

£3500 cash, collected wherever and whenever.

Can it be done!!?

Not saying £3500 won,t get you a Z but i wouldn,t want one for that money  unless you entered the wrong number after "Z" in your forum search ? between £4k/£5k would be more reasonable to land a decent Z4 that you would be happy with & not be pouring cash into on a regular basis .

As Mr wilks said, think you might struggle.

Why a 2.0i though. This 2.2 would be much nicer to drive and has the same engine as the 2.5 and 3.0 pre facelift models.

Also 2.0i didn't come in until later on so will cost more than the 6cyl models

Face Lift 2.0i for £4k

I've not looked at the detail to much on the above.

MrWilks and Srhutch, huge thanks for the advice so far. I could certainly go to £4k for the right one, just wanted to give you a real challenge!

On the 2.0 vs 2.2 question, I chose 2.0 for fuel economy and insurance but am tempted by the lower price and better availability of the 2.2 6cyl. What are your thoughts on which is best?

Very many thanks

carrying on saving and get the 3.0, if you cant stretch to 3.0 then settle for the 2.2 or 2.5, the 2.0 zed is the same as having a mondeo 2.0 zetec in a z4, like a big mac without the big mac sauce, dont do it. the four pot is just dire, no idea why bmw put that engine in.

Big news! Budget has just increased but so has the wish list!
I Have been looking hard and familiarised myself with what's available a bit.

£5000
2.0i
Fsh
<100k
White/red leather
Ideally blue
No cat c/d

Would swap/Px for my ducati 748e

Cheers!

Ps. On the 2.0 vs 2.2, it's gotta be 2.0 because of the 37mpg! I just can't turn that down!

£5000? Get another £1k and that's 3.0 money / I wouldn't have thought mine would be far off that price (not that I'm selling!)

Amazingly sitting at 60mph on my daily 25 mile drive to work I can get 39MPG from my 3.0, still amazes me how great this car is on fuel.

Enough of the 2.0i bashing mate. In my opinion the only 2 engines that make sense are the 2.0i and the 3.2. The 2.2 and 2.5 are the more pointless vehicles, less torque than a lawn mower and sound s**t. Get the 2.0i for the fuel economy and to feel awesome while you push it to its limits. The only reason to get the 3.0 is if you have a tiny cock or can't afford the Z4M

Looks like I have a tiny cock then! Infact... that means 80% of the forum members also have #HowToWinFriends!

Actually having read your posts I believe you bought the 3.0 because you didn't want the running costs of the 3.2... and therefore fall under the other reason for buying the 3.0

Try #FedUpOf2.0iBashers <- kind of falls under #Attitude I guess

I would get some sleep, forget about any 2.0 bashing and come back with a smile on your face tomorrow

That or choose a bigger engine...

I can assure you the 2.5 doesn't sound s***.
There's a lot of knowledge on this forum and people that can help you!
Hope you find the right z4 for you. There's a lot on Autotrader, eBay and Pistonheads at the moment.

So moving on from the posts above, but acknowledging I am doubly cursed as I couldn't afford an M and I have a small cock...

The 2.0 does have known head gasket issues I believe, so you need to make sure the car you buy has a full service history and any issues are disclosed / have been dealt with. For this reason - and not the small engine - I would get the 2.2 or 2.5 were I in your position.

Hi ya

I've reluctantly decided to sell my Z4 2.2i as I'm in a bit of a financial pickle :(

I'm going to do a 4 Sale post shortly and I'm going to be asking £3900 as I need the money. From reading your posts I see you not after a black Z'ed unfortunately mines black with black leather.

If you might be interested just let know and I can give you the low down.

Many Thxs
Peter

At the end of the day, OP wanted to know what was a reasonable price for what he wanted - at which point I don't think a discussion about engine size is really all that helpful with each camp getting narky with the other camp. I am keeping well out of it, but will just say, I am happy with my 2.0i and bought it for the reasons OP wants one.
So, let's all play nice again ! :D
