Wanted: washer jet cover clip

Lost my N/S headlight washer cover after a pheasant impact last weekend, I've got a new cover and painted it but the clip that connects the nozzle to the cover is also missing :(, anyone got a spare lying around? I'd rather not have to replace the whole washer jet for the sake of one clip.

Good luck with finding another diamond part it seems to be the bit that goes missing with the cover. I gave up in the end and bought a knackered bumper complete with washers, fogs, grills etc then took the bit I needed (the one in the picture actually) stripped the rest of the parts off the bumper for ebay and made a profit :)

The clips are as rare as hens teeth Andrew. After a similar pheasant incident in March I lost my headlight washer cover, ended up buying a complete washer jet unit for the very same reason :headbang:

Not sure if that's any help!

The clip is part of the washer jet assembly unfortunately and not available seperately :headbang:

Is this the sort of thing a 3D printer could knock out?

Anyone? it was a serious question about 3D printing.

as we know the diamond plastic bit un-clips easily and I keep seeing 3D printer demo's on the web making complex but useless oddments surely one these clips would be a doddle? But I am speaking from a position of zero knowledge

Thats a good question. In theory it should work, however in practice is a different story. 3D printed parts are not as strong as traditionally manufactured parts. They use a layer by layer technique of manufacturing which is both their biggest strength and their greatest weakness. For example in injection moulding, you have a very even strength across the part, as the material is of a relatively consistent material structure. But in 3D printing, you are building it up in layers which means that it has what is called laminate weaknesses, as the layers don’t bond as well as tradtional manufactured moulded parts. So they might not have the flexibility and could well break when trying to clip them on.

I lost one of my jet cover clips a couple of years ago and my bmw Indy ordered the clip on its on from bmw. It cost me around £12 so it can be ordered on its on.

Cheers
