Hunter - sorry but we cannot allow requests for illegal software.
Please refer to BMW for OEM maps.

You may well be able to find the firmware in downloadable format on X5outpost and other sites and I have not heard of any issues on copying that

I've got a OEM 09-1 High sat-nav DVD (the map disc) that I upgraded to for about £100 a couple of years ago. Don't really use it as I use my TomTom most of the time.

I'm sure I can be persuaded to part with it for not a lot more than than you'd pay for a dodgy one on ebay or 'unofficial' websites.

You'll still have to get the firmware disc yourself though - but they're available to download legally on Z5-Outpost.

I can't remember which site I used to download the upgrade but this seems OK and has a few alternatives if you want night maps etc

Like i say I stuck with a normal upgrade so cannot guarantee how good the homebrew ones are.

mmm-five, I will have that as mine is a 2008-2.
I'm happy to listen to your offer, but do you think it's worth it for a one version increment?

I didn't notice anything majorly different between my 07-1 and 09-1 discs (driving in the UK, France, Belgium, Spain, Germany) and I only upgraded because I assumed the 2 year newer disc would have roads/junctions on that had been in place for 5 years (it didn't). I think the only part that I noticed was different was some of the POIs :headbang:

Let's first see if Hunter, who opened the thread, wants to make an offer.

Right top on the screen if you are referring to the software version.

Maps - just look on the disk label :)

I just upgraded the firmware from Ver 26 to Ver 32 using a Mac. I downloaded NAV_SW(32).rar from:

http://www.megaupload.com Search that site, or for a link on Xoutpost.com.

Extract the file: NAV_SW(32).iso using UnRarX

Burn it to a cd using Disc Utility, using the slowest speed (8X) (In User/applications/Utilities/)

Then Install it in line with these instructions:

http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-bmw/navigation/9458-bmw-navigation-system-faq.html

and these:

All in all took about 5 minutes

Note. Even if BMW carries out an owner requested update to the software it is not warrantied by them.
