This is a long shot but I trying to track the owner of a reg GR04 GRR current on a triumph bike. This was on my car when first registered, so trying to get back to original.
Its currently up for sale on the reg sites at just under a grand but that's way too much and I'm guessing the owner is looking for £400/ 500

Can anyone help.... bike last seen in Scarborough area.

Hi just put the registration into Google and it shows the triumph for sale August 2018 on Ebay with the registration included in the sale. It shows that the Triumph was unsold. The user shows as lex162. May be worth messaging the user through ebay. I have attached the link below to the advert. They may still own it or might be able to give you details of who they sold the bike to.

regards Matt

Genuinely interested - why is having the original registration on the car important to you?
Matches all the original paperwork and receipts going back to original purchase. Ocd thing I guess
Last few years were on different reg and it bugs me I guess.

Bit confused how that number plate ended up being reassigned by DVLA?

In all the plates I've changed, the original registration is "retained" and goes back onto the car when you remove a cherished plate? I've never had to put a different registration back onto the car (once cherished has been removed)? :?

One explanation is that the original number plate was put on retention at some point, for some reason, when a cherished plate was put on the car. It would then be unavailable when the cherished plate was removed.

I was a little confused myself to start with, but after a little investigation i found that the guy who had my car from new managed to get that plate put on it?? He paid extra at the time. But before he sold the car he transferred to his triumph bike and toured Europe, when he got back from his tour he sold the bike and the plate went with yhe bike (buyer Lex162). The guy who then bought the bike from Lex162 (Mr X) is now trying to sell the plate....and it's Mr X i'm trying to find.

Seems Lex162 either doesn't have the buyers details or cant be bothered to help. Either way it leaves me hunting for Mr X as i'm not prepared to pay nearly a grand to an agency for this plate.

I have a similar request:

Essentially, find the current owner of a private plate to try and buy direct, not through an agency.

The DVLA can disclose this info in certain situations I believe, but not sure what qualifies, I don't think Joe public can request it (unless perhaps trying to track down a driver in an accident?).
