Hi all,

I know it’s a long shot but does anyone have a post facelift steering column available??

My power steering column torque sensor has failed, meaning I had to send the column to ECU testing to be refurbed - and UPS have lost the package containing my column!!

This means I need to buy a complete unit, and really don’t want to spend circa. £3,000 on one from BMW.

Any help much appreciated.

Was it not insured?

I'll just ask someone who may have one, is it just the bare column, ie no switches etc - Do you need the ignition switch/wiring?

Are you aware that a replacement will probably need coding, I know some have swapped them and they have worked without though.

Guy just got back to me - He has a complete one, all wiring etc, minus the steering wheel. He wants £500.

Hi Mike,

Thank you very much for looking into this for me. I think I have sourced one as well for £400 all in. If this falls through though I will come crawling back. Again, thanks very much.

Get UPS to cover the cost, surely? Or was it uninsured/undervalued?

The column was fully insured with ‘My Parcel Delivery’, who arranged the UPS courier. However, when I asked about the claim they directed me to a page deep within their T’s&C’s which outlines a long list of items considered ‘Restricted Items’ which are sent at the owners own risk. Complete get out from them, especially as I paid extra for the insurance cover! I will be trying to make a claim anyway, but not overly hopeful
