wanted new wheels... now not so sure

I've always switched out rims on most cars i've owned, maybe because the rims on the car at the time of purchase were not ideal. With my Z4 its no different, I have Elips on at the moment and started looking from day one to get some 19's on it. I was looking to go CSL route, then started looking through ZPost and options opened up further. Now however I'm thinking maybe a good refurb of the Elips, some spacers are in order and may just do the trick ( I'm liking them more and more ). I do like the stock rims, mine need a refurb for sure so the question is, with a good refurb costing £50+ per rim, spacers around £200 for all corners is it worth sticking with them or keeping them as is for winters and stumping for new rims? I've yet to find a rim that really looks great on a roady. the coupe has lovely lines and sits so well on CSL type rims but the roady looks a little strange. Hate using the word 'Stance' but the roady just looks a little awkward at times unless dialled in really well, the coupe just sits better I think ( I'm planning on an ZMC in about 18/24 )

I'm ordering a set of D2 coils in the coming weeks ready for spring. To Elips or Not to Elips, that is the Question.

*EDIT- I see plenty of rims that are great on a roady but not in the £1300 isn mark with rubber, would love BBS RS splits but damn! they are pricey. LM Reps staggered is an option I guess if they can be polished.

I would follow your nose mate , get the Elipsoids refurbed how you like & slip some 20mm spacers on rear / 15mm front , transformation complete

You could do worse than a set of 18" 326 (or M6) wheels on a Roady ...
- I think you can get them off the 1 series M sport models, so there are a few sets knocking around usually.

Ellipsoids are quite rare, so once gone you'll probably never get them back.
They are IMHO one of the 2 best OEM rims, the other being 108's. Both suit the car well. Ellipsoids last well too and suffer few corrosion issue unlike others.

Refurb and enjoy and if you do later decide on 19's keep the ellipsoids in the garage.

I think the Elipsoids are a fantastic looking wheel. It's a shame they didn't make them in a 19. Had them on my car when I first brought it. Swapped for 19's pretty much straight away as I thouht they were 17's, wasn't until I was changing that I noticed they were 18's. Was an expensive upgrade for an inch.!!
